  2. Slightly off topic, but this year (2023) at Legends of the Autobahn in Monterey there will be a display of various vintage and semi-vintage Alpinas. There will be some pretty cool ones there, a 1972 e9 B2, a couple of e24s, a couple of e21s including my e21 C1 2.3, and then some more "modern" ones: 3 e36s. Yes, I subtly slid mine in there. After 6+ years of restoration it seems to be in running condition and presentable and, hopefully, able to make the drive down there and back....
  3. Just skimmed through it to refresh my memory. If by early Alpinas you mean late 70s and early 80s, it's a good source. But it doesn't really address the minutia in questions like this.....
  4. It's off site and under a pile of parts (as you can see from the pictures) but my recollection is that the bottom part has some cracks too.
  5. The build sheets are much more detailed than the records they have on C1s. They were able to verify that my car was built by them, not a kit installed by a dealer/authorized aftermarket vendor, but nothing more than the date it was in Buchloe. I guess that means I'm free to modify my car however I want and claim it came from the factory that way.....
  6. I have a cracked two piece dash that was removed from my touring. Free but local pick up only. Excuse the shitty pictures, but you get what you pay for...... Email me at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com (Ymail, NOT Gmail)
  7. My touring came with these weird coil over tii struts. I replaced them with standard struts and my usual suspension. Local pick up only. $100 OBO Please email me at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com (Ymail, NOT Gmail).
  8. Still at it, although there have been more than a few times where I would have bailed if I could have. I would guess you've had those dark moments, too. I may even make my goal of Monterey this August. But it won't be perfect. Good, but not perfect. The original C1 motor is in my garage, waiting for me to rebuild it (it has a blown head gasket; that's what started the whole restoration). The motor in the car is a 2.8 M20 build. Obviously, it will look original (other than the Alpina numbers stamped in the head and block), using K-jet but mostly ones used in the euro 2.8 Porsche 911S as they flow the appropriate amount of fuel. I copied the build from a couple of guys I know of, one the original owner of another C1.
  9. Here's the latest post on my e21 Alpina C1 2.3 blog. Not a 2002 but, hey! Pic for attention.
  10. Yes, it does but the cables don't easily fit in. I can make it work but instead of reinventing the wheel (or cable attachment), I thought I'd see what other folks did.....
  11. Thanks. I've seen those but they use different brackets than the Blunttech. Similar enough that, if push comes to shove, I can fabricate something but I'd like to know what folks do with Blunttech's.
  12. I'm installing the Blunttech rear disc conversion and am having trouble with the emergency brake cable. Can I get some pics of it installed folks? Any pointers? TIA
  13. Seriously jealous of you effort! You get more done in one day than I did in the past year. I cleaned out the trunk of the e21 yesterday and fooled myself into thinking I was productive..
  14. Thanks for the pics! I swear I have a pic or two of it next to your old Fjord 74 tii but I can't find any.....
  15. I went with an MSD distributor that was modified to fit in our cars. Doesn't look factory but too many 123 owners have said it craps out at about 15k miles. Of course, there is a good argument that my car will not get 15k in my lifetime, but still.... If you're interested, I can get you in contact with the guy who modifies them.
  16. Jason, great to see you're knee deep into this project. Finally did (very little) work on my 3-series yesterday and the 2002 today. I'm frustrating slow for several reason--some of them even good reasons (most not so good). Had to chuckle at the picture of your daughter giving you the thumbs-up with the engine out of the car. Here's why (circa 2017):
  17. It fell in my lap when someone used my login to bid on it on Bring-a-Trailer (at least that's what I told my wife). Then I took it apart to put it back together with different, more expensive things like cams and pistons and carburetors and maybe even a 5-speed or two. Ok, one cam and one 5-speed, but multiple pistons and carburetors. It's a budget version of the Faux A4/Inka touring, very similar build. It almost got the A4 system you emailed me about but there is a line and we found it!
  18. Ah, but it can. The fabric is in reproduction and I even know a good and decently price reupholster.
  19. I prefer the look of e21 Recaros. And the fit, too. I think I'm in the minority in this...... The Inkatouring gets the orange seats....
  20. I have a pair of original Alpina Scheel (A.S.S.) seats that were in my Alpina C1 2.3 for sale. They are in what I would call very good original condition. No rips, tears or problems other than the material being faded. Almost like patina'ed! Brackets included. If interested, please EMAIL me at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com (Ymail, not Gmail). Please no PMs or posts here (peanut gallery posts more than welcome!) There is one (yes, just one) very similar seat for sale on eBay right now for $2250. That helped me price the seats; if my price is out of line gently let me know, willing to adjust if unreasonable. But, given the rarity, I suspect it is not.... Pick up in SF Bay Area or arrange to have your shipper come and get them.
  21. I have a NIB Pierburg fuel pump for Bavaria/2800/3.0 cs, etc that I bought for my dual Weber M10 motor but ended up using a head not drilled for mechanical pump (went with an electric one). This is THE mechanical fuel pump to use for high performance M10 motors..... Cost new is $110 from Pelican Parts or $155 from Maximillian. Yours for only $75. Please email if interested. No DM or comments here, just email please. Thanks. joshuaweinstein@ymail.com https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/13311260677.htm...
  22. I have a pair for used Bilstein front strut inserts. Prefer local pick up. Email me at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com (Ymail, not gmail).
  23. A more thoughtful and sophisticated version of my thought: that should buff right out. In all seriousness, I'm with Mike. That head very well may be salvageable. Sorry for the shitty situation.
