Thanks for sharing. He beat me on the 69 Granada by a couple of hours due to the time difference between CA and TN. But I do feel better about it since it appears the Granada car will end up at a nice home.

Very nice 1600. Appears to be Derby to my eye.

But all is not lost-I just acquired a 68 sunroof 1600 from CA.

We keep on moving the 02s eastward. LOL

Definitely Derby.... One of my very favorite '02 colors!! A little strange to have the later rear over riders in the rear with the early/euro ones in front. Oh, the rear view mirror is upside down too. Not molested huh? :b.....

Absolutely stunningly beautiful example of an early 1600-2 though!! I'm in love!!! Thanks for sharing Blunt!!! I want more, more pictures.

Sam, it was great gettin' to chat with you over the phone today.

Blunt, there's a sweet Manila '68 1600 that's gonna be headed cross country to V@V and then to it's new home in Tennessee. But only after it get's approved for road trip status by yours truly & Casey Motorsports. :)

gorgeous colour, gorgeous car. I'd have to bin those ugly over riders though and get some sill (rockers to you guys?) trims back on it, and I'm sure it's been discussed to death but IMHO the sills should be body colour. Real nit piking though when it's in so much better condition than mine! Oh, and the little plastic caps are missing from the door locks and it's a shame to have to slam them.

The sills are correct for at least some markets, see QUATTROROUTE Agosto 1967 very clear pictures, black rocker, no bright trim; all the pictures I've seen that are contemporanious, the 1600 with no rocker (sill) trim are painted black and have the rear emblem that is "BMW16oo" no rondel

didn't know that - and that applies to a '69 car too?

From what I understand, the early cars guess up towards vin 152xxxx ish didn't have the lowest bright trim at all. Then it became optional in Europe till it became a standard feature. Don't know when that was though. In the US there was a point when many many things like that became "mandatory" options by the importer Max Hoffman.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
