Bang on shifts after e21 mount install.

Can someone point me to what could be banging on shifts on floor or tunnel after adding this beefier mount. Underneath it when still I don’t see anything. All new mounts just done and evidently the bigger tranny mount has caused something else to interfere? Anyone been here before? Thanks!!

How is the center support bearing? Good shape? Properly preloaded? What kind of shifter did you use? Some have too much length below the pivot ball and can hit the driveshaft.

Shifter itself is all stock and did not make sounds with the weak original mount..now it does. No funny noises down there other than a contact sound on shifts now.

How much thicker is e21 bushing?

guessing without them is pointless.

exhaust could be banging

Exhaust was perfect and newly mounted in the last year. I’ll get it up in the air tomorrow and poke around!

Cann you provide height of old and new mount bushing pls.

While you are down there spin the driveshaft around to see if you see any witness marks on the shaft or guibo bolts.

This can’t be right!? See video. All bolts appear very tight…but all this movement? Is this just the guts gone from every rubber bushing in there including the ones that mount the whole contraption up there?

Yeah a little movement is  ok but that seems to be quite excessive
Think you are on to something.

If all the 4 bolts are tight it would have to be the mounts/bushings,  or corner of platform broken

This is quite likely, the oil and heat turns the rubber in the bushings into goo.

Something is broken. Way too much movement & metal to metal sound.  With good bushes it barely moves.

With bad bushings it shouldn't move that much. I agree, something is broken. Take it all out and see you you have to work with.

I have ordered a full kit from IE and will replace all the bushings and mounts while i’m in there there and update to later version of stick. Got a new guibo as well in case that all comes apart when I get in there.
