Thanks, that was helpful and more good info, however its still not what I once saw.  Possibly I saw it on a difference site?  It was a BMW sales brochure for a 2002 which showed pictures / info of the car, etc., one of those type of brochures you pick up from the dealer when you're looking at new cars.

Steve, do you have a link for '72?

No, Tom, but I’ll snap photos of my 1972 brochure. It’s less convenient to read, but it’s much better than nothing!

Best regards,

Steve

Again, Tom: not nearly as good as a link to a proper scan, but better than nothing.

I haven’t come across a U.S.-market brochure between this and the 1974 brochure, so I believe this brochure may have served for 1972 and 1973, just as BMW used a single brochure (well, ever-so-slightly-different versions) for 1975 and 1976.

The cars shown have U.S.-spec sidemarkers, license plate illumination, and bumpers — the bumpers are tucked in 1972-style and the grilles are deep — but Euro front overriders, which are identical to those installed on 1973 U.S.-spec cars. The tii engine illustrated has plastic runners, so… pre-VIN 2761944, or VIN 2762015 through 2762372. Anyway, I’d date this un-dated brochure ca. 1972.

Best regards,

Steve

My wife found this original brochure for the 1600 a few years back.  It's in great condition and is pretty interesting (at least for us 1600 aficionados!)

Steve, while I don't have my brochure collection in front of me, IIRC there is a '73 US brochure, and it's nearly identical to the 72, but with those little differences airbrushed in.  And if I recall correctly, the '73 brochure is dated around Sept 1972 (IX/72 in BMW brochure-speak).

I started picking up 2002 brochures with the 1600s in 1967, and have what I think is a complete set of US spec catalogs, 67-76, with a couple of Euro ones mixed in, picked up in my travels back then.
