Not a BMW, but a reflection of out of control prices

Thanks man but I don't think i'd even want it for half of your price [emoji2273]
Ok, you can have mine at 1/3 the asking price. That's absolutely crazy. Rates are in the tank so "investors " are seeking return in hard assets. Couple that with, oh forget about it. Who cares?

Porsche prices have jumped.  But so have 2002 prices.  I suspect that 2002 prices will continue to rise for the next several years.

I really don't get the "Porsche guys are A-holes" attitude that I've seen in this thread.  In my experience the guys that own 2002s also tend to own 914s, 912s, 944s, etc.

If you're referring to me, that's not exactly what I said. I wasn't saying that all Porsche guys are butt holes. But, I can tell you from experience that prior to the great boom in prices, quite a few looked down on the 912. I was at the receiving end and it was rather common back then. Now, it's probably a different story but for the butt heads it's likely only due to the price increases.

That doesn't make the whole lot of them butt holes. There are snobs within the BMW ranks too. I met one at a local C&C on a BMW bike. I complimented him on the bike as he pulled up. He had no idea I rode and no clue I was there with my 2002. He was super condescending and full of himself. I was polite and then excused myself and my son.

There are great folks amongst the rotten apples regardless of brand.

I waited and waited for this book to come out, then I guess it finally did, and now it's available at out-of-control prices:

I looked at the other sellers to see whether that price was just an anomaly, and it is not.  Here's a $688 version that is "not in the greatest shape."  Perhaps it comes packaged with a set of mud flaps, a folding key or Hirschmann Jewel tipped antenna.

LOL well at this point I'm no longer interested in the book, no matter the price. I'd rather save my money for sheet metal and side mirror cage nuts.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
