Did you have a support from the gearbox to the exhaust?

Very low tech.... I made a little box out of scraps to put in my trunk in the back to hold “road” items ?

 

Rough now but after a coat or 2 of paint it will hold the top list of roadside necessities!

Got my control arms back from my stepdad. He was welding in my support plates (like what IE offers). I got the old rubber bushings burned out and drilled out the old ball joints. Then I cleaned them up a bit with a flap wheel and will get them sent off to the powder coated.

 

I got to play with fire....I burned the old bushings out of the rear subframe mounts. Fire and beer, what could go wrong? Once those are powder coated, I have the AKG poly bushings to install.

 

I also stared at it a bunch, especially the engine bay. It stared back and laughed at me a little......but I know that someday, I'm going to win. For now I'm just going to have another beer.

Yes, tranny exhaust support just before front quick release.

Been a busy day.. got IE brakes lines installed and washer bottle,just need to get a pump for it.

Share your list, I have my box of road bandaids, I may be missing something. The main PIA is the floor jack, don’t trust the factory rocker spots anymore. That could turn a minor roadside repair into a bad day!!  I work to avoid those.

I carry a little scissor jack, like the kind found in eighties Subarus, Hondas, Toyotas, etc.

Do you carry an 80's Subaru also?

Yes I do.  It is a Subaru jack in my trunk as well.  They are a pretty shade of blue, that goes nicely with mintgrun.

@ray_, here is  scissor jack Tom is talking about along with the 80's Subaru with spare tire in engine bay as extra point just for you curiosity

got one of those torin big red sissor jacks.. only $15 or so.  Didnt trust the bmw jack either.

Cool concept!! That scissor jack adjustable suspension component is great. Car too high?  Run out, pull tire and adjust height!

I did not have list until challenged so cracked another beer to beat the NC heat and made one. Certainly plenty of “nice to haves” on the list but not needed really

If I'm not mistaken I think that tire is actually a critical part of the crumple zone.
