Took out my light buckets.  The last 4 months I devoted to dismantling my 74A o2.  I would remove a part study everything I could about the part,  clean&restore.  Rinse&Repeat...... In anticipation of the build I cleaned & restored the license plate holder and the headlight buckets.  Not sure I want to keep the Brass ring brass..... we’ll see......

I’m using  6M allen/aircraft bolts to secure the license plate.... I mean,  who carries an allen wrench to steal a license plate?  Having been a police officer I was called out to people who’s plates were stolen.  I would always recommend Allen bolts, and by that time, they knew why... go figure

I’ll pick up a new set of light lenses  for $80........ Oh Boy!

Drove the 1975 02 early up the 405 north to the 118 west to the 126 west to the 150 up to Ojai, California. Phew. Had breakfast with a friend and hung around until it was an acceptable time to have a Topa Topa Brewery beer on a Sunday.

Had a walk around, cute town.

Then hit the famed Route 33 for some very fun canyon driving through Los Padres national park before turning off on Lockwood Valley Rd to the Frazier Park side then I-5 south back to LA.

Got home at 2 and read about LED taillight blubs from superbright on the forum since apparently you can’t see me braking in daylight... problem.

Cleaned out the taillight housing and replaced the blubs in the meantime until LED arrives. Decent improvement.

Then I ran the 1969 car’s engine for a few minutes until I got bored and decided to take it down Pico and back around for a quick jog. Mashed it pretty hard while still respecting the neighborhood.

Missed the super bowl entirely.

While I was on vacation in Mexico City this weekend I had my seats recovered so they would be done by the time I got back. Just got to installing them tonight - so much better with new straps!! My father had the center sections made from a Porsche material when he worked at Recaro in 1979/80. They've been sitting in his garage ever since. Nice German velour.

Picked up a set of Flofit seats with matching rears this weekend at the ‘02 meet in West Seattle.  Big thanks to Patrick at Midnight Motorsport for letting me switch out the interior over at his shop. (Only took 20 minutes) Thanks to Teelinger as well for cutting me a great deal on the price.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
