Flattered and Honored...

1972_Targa

Recommended Posts

To have my car featured in the November issue of Bimmer Magazine.

I was approached by the gifted photographer Michael Alan Ross at the Marin County C&C back in the spring. He was curious if I might be interested in possibly doing a story on my 1972 2002 Baur Targa. My first reaction was that it's not the kind of perfect car that you normally see featured. But he told me that he was looking for something that had some soul.

Once the car/story idea was approved, I met with the great writer Will Edgar. After Will got a look at my thick binder of records, he asked how many of the past owners I thought that we could track down to make this a real owners' story. Will located and interviewed every American owner including the original gentleman who brought the car over from Italy in 1983. I've owned the car twice now, so I'm owner #6 and #9.

The story is not yet in digital form on the site. It typically takes a month or two for stories to show up when they're less than fresh news (and pardon the crappy scans).

Again, I'm flattered and honored to be included in such well-crafted collection of 2002 owners' experiences and recollections.

Very nice and congratulations on your cars write up! I may have seen it as I recently retired from the Mill Valley FD and was keenly aware of the various 02s in that city...Mine lurked from time to time...Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Marin County C&C? I live in the East Bay and hip as I am I do have my flaws.

Thank you all for the kind, thoughtful comments. And Lisa, thanks for posting the photos. Very cool and very appreciated.

And Will Edgar, the the writer, did very thorough job of covering off on all parties involved, including my wife Helen, Sean Casey, and Bill Watson of Red Rockets fame.

DMDUBL02, Marin County Cars & Coffee meets in Novato on the first Sunday of every month from 8-10 am. Both Delia and Lisa have attained rock-star status there. Nice, smart mellow crowd...
