  1. Thanks for the pointer to that car - I tend to not watch the cars for sale forum as I'm not in the market for another, but I can see now that I should! Those are many of the type upgrades I have in mind, things that only someone who knows the car well would know are not stock - and that same person is probably someone who can appreciate the value of the upgrade. Barrett
  2. I have a tii, so the modified carbs don't work - but I like the idea of black heat shrink over the fire engine red lines!
  3. Working through my car I came to a philosophical decision point that I'm sure many of you have faced. In this case, it was brought on by needing to replace brake lines - and Turner Motorsport having some nice stainless lines on sale - but they're fire engine red. They were just to flashy looking for me. My car isn't stock - Getrag 240, e21 LSD, Bilsteins, Recaros - but I'm torn between modern improvements and keeping the car as some semblance of period correct. Anyone have any favorite stealth upgrades - upgrades that at the least don't jump out as being jarringly wrong, but make a significant improvement? Barrett
  4. The motor that I ordered from pitstop auto showed up today - it's the same dcm motor, as they said it'd be.
  5. Rear 2002 lettering off a 76. Very slight dimple on the top of both 0s, scratch on bottom face of second 0 just deep enough to feel with your fingernail. Otherwise in good condition, fits against body correctly . $30 OBO, buyer pays shipping.
  6. Fantastic info - but being put off a little by the $24 shipping cost for the blower motor, I did some digging - the DCM PN cross-references to a uacparts PN #BM 4350. And they source the motor from DCM.That's all great - but uacparts doesn't sell to the public. However, pitstopauto.com carries uacparts, and they do sell retail. Searching on their web site didn't give me a hit with either the uacparts or the DCM PN, but I chatted with them, they confirmed they carry it, have 70+ in stock - and the price is $57 with shipping included (in the US) . Has anyone ever gotten anywhere on finding a blower motor that produces a higher airflow? I remember someone was looking into this but I didn't ever see anything more. Then again, it sounds like the condenser heat capacity is the limiting factor - I'm inferring that from the comments about needing to suck small dogs off the pavement with your aux fan in order to get decent cooling. So does anyone know if that is that the weakest link, or if there is something to be gained by improving on the under dash components?
  7. Do you know or can you easily determine the diameter of the pistons? Hopefully I'm not repeating information you already know, 6.6mm pistons are stock size, some pump versions made for racing use 7 or 7.5 mm pistons. BMW used two versions of the injection pump but they're very similar. With respect to the V7 marking all european and the '72-'73 US models used pumps equipped with the V7 fuel control cone, and the '74 US only tii used a pump with the V6 fuel control cone.
  8. Not to spoil everyone's fun, but.....
  9. I tried pulling the one from my parts car for you but it disintegrated when I tried unscrewing it.
  10. My drivers side panel has a mouse hole chewed in it, the passenger side is intact. The vinyl is in ok shape, but the underlying board you would need to replace. Arm rests for both sides are ok
  11. I also may have what you need , I'll need to check their condition.
  12. Hello all - In my quest for a reasonable priced water pump, injectors, and other goodies, I came across information (it was on the internet, so it must be true) where it looked like a European 1972-1974 E12 520i shared the same engine as a tii. Am I misinformed or missing something here? The part numbers for a water pump don't match up, nor does realoem show the "90 degree adds $2000" water pump that the tii uses. But realoem does list the injectors for my car for the M1 and a 72-79 e21 (?! ok, maybe 72-74, but then they went to Bosch K-Jetronic, I thought that used different injectors, am I wrong?) Did I just come across bad information, or is there some mix of injection motor specific parts that are shared with the euro e21 520i? Or are there Barrett
  13. Let me check my part car and get back to you - I assume they're in decent shape, those are a part I hadn't considering "harvesting", I should probably set one or two aside for my own potential use.
  14. Anthony has passed on them, someone make me an offer please
  15. Here's pictures of what I have - remember, I DID say they are in rough condition! antho.g4 has first dibs on them, but putting them out here in case he decides to pass: The fabric shows sun fading, vinyl along the seat bottom front edge is in ok shape, still some more dirt that will probably come out - I hit them with some upholstery cleaner, then gave them a vacuum with a shop vac Vinyl piping on passenger side is worn off in a section. Here's the back The passenger seat back vinyl has a hole/tear on the upper top edge & the fabric across the top of the back doesn't have much or any pile. Vinyl along the bottom mounting edge (covered by the seat bottom) is torn. The frames are pretty bad, and AFAIK that underlying upholstery isn't original
  16. Does your AC run 134a or is it r12? You might want to go ahead and stop by an AC shop and have them charge the system (assuming that it needs refrigerant) and put florescent dye in it. Most AC problems result in low or no refrigerant and the cause can be pinpointed be seeing where it is escaping from. It may be that it indicates that a hose or your condenser are leaking, but the dye will show where the refrigerant has escaped so they know what's bad. Easy to do, cheaper to pay a less expensive shop to do the easy refill, and then when you go to a good shop they have something to go on.
  17. I'll clean them up as best I can and take some pictures for you this evening. The price would be very negotiable .
  18. Any suggestions for undercoating? I need to undo some work the previous owner did with the driveshaft center bearing bracket that will involve grinding and rewelding.
  19. Just wondering what drives demand for some parts. Take the rear window latches for example - do they break? I can't imagine wearing them out through overuse. Maybe they get lost when cars get repainted, but how often can that happen? There's a whole class of parts like this (seat rails come to mind) that all seem to fit into this category. I ask in part because as I part out the parts car I have, how do I determine what I should keep for my own potential future needs. A list of "rathole away for the future because you'll probably need it" parts is what I'm trying to find or compile. Versus "that's a part that unless it takes a direct lighting strike will last beyond the life of the car".
  20. Is there any demand for the original fabric covered seats if they're in rough condition? My 76 parts car (hereafter referred to as "tetanus") has this exact style rear seats. They are beyond rough, I won't post pics of them unless I clean them up, I'd be afraid someone might gouge their eyes out after seeing them the way they are. THEY ARE THE SAME STYLE SEATS AS THE PICTURE BELOW BUT THOSE IN THE PICTURE ARE NOT MY SEATS. PICTURE IS ONLY TO SHOW THE PLEATS (UNPLEATED CENTER) AND APPROXIMATE ORIGINAL COLOR. If there's any interest I'll clean them up as best as possible and then we can decide if they can be saved.

  22. The body on this poor car is hammered - rusted through the hood and roof. Minor rust in the rear deck lid and doors. Lots of all the bits and pieces that always seem to be needed. I just jacked it up last night to see what diff it has in it - turn the rear wheel, opposite wheel turns backwards - but the driveshaft doesn't turn at all! Of course, it ran when parked I think trim bits and other such things are what this is going to be best for - let me know if you need anything.
  23. PM me please with price for the armrest chrome cap shipped to 77379?
  24. I'm surprised no one has mentioned selecting tasks where the advantages shine of having small bodies to contort under a dash or a child's small hands being able to get into small spaces. That's what my Dad used us kids for! (That and jobs at our body shop where the flat rate didn't pay well and the regular employees didn't want to do them).
  25. I haven't pulled the pedal box on my parts car, but I'll probably get to it this week and post pic how it looks if it's good.
