My neighbor recently came in possession of a 1970 Chamonix 4 sp BMW 1600. The car was purchased by his father in law in 1985 and driven for a few years and then parked in the backyard in Nevada with a tarp over it until last week. I expected it to be rusty everywhere but it has very minimal surface rust only. The only major issue with it is that it's a sunroof car but it's missing the sunroof panel. The interior is dusty but original and in perfect condition. It has about 75K miles on it and they look original miles. They tried to tow the car by the front bumper and bent the bumper supports but nothing else. He put a battery in it and cranked it. The engine cranks but no spark. It's missing a couple of fuses and the gas is probably 20 years old so it wouldn't turn over. I talked to him and pending no back registration fees in Nevada he is willing to sell it for 2,600. Should I buy it? Any pointers or help is mucho appreciated.
Glad you and your family escaped unscathed. Loss is always painful, regardless of what flavor it comes in. Let us know how we can help lessen the pain.
I want to say he has had a family emergency or something. He replied to me a week ago saying he’d send the tracking info. If he was a con artist he’d have no reason to reply to my email and say he’d send the tracking info. I’m just saying let’s give him the benefit of the doubt before calling him a thief?
I haven’t spoken with him. I bought this stuff about three weeks ago when he said initially that he would ship the next day. Then I didn’t hear anything but when I contacted him last week for a tracking number he said he’ll give it to me the next day when he goes by the shop. He never did email me the tracking number. I just emailed him again inquiring about that travel ng number again
I bought more than $500 worth of suspension bits from him. He said he’d send me tracking number last week but hasn’t yet. I contacted him again today. This is a bit concerning. Hopefully it’s just a simple misunderstanding and he can make good on his word.
Was told I need to cut the tunnel and weld this to that. I'm not good at cutting or welding, but i'm good at hammering. This seems to be outside of my skill set.
Hello,
I have recently found out that my M2 conversion using the getrag 265 is a no go and I will need a 3 piece getrag 245 to mate to the S14 for my M2 conversion. Anyone has a 245 that can help me out with?
Cheers,
Eamon
