Price: $100
Location: Manassa, Virginia

Description:

I recently bought this car with no engine and transmission on FAQ to restore it, however, the floor rust is extensive and have decided to part it out.  This was not meant to be a flip, but I'm in Southern California and the car is at a shop in Virginia.   Things got complicated.  All parts will be dismantled at some point, but let's start with the following items for now.  All prices are plus shipping. Local pick up is preferred.  Thank

I will post the parts individually for more manageable searches.  Thank you everyone.

I hope it's not as bad as you think. With respect, I've saved several 2002s that someone a little overwhelmed or undermotivated was ready to crush.

I appreciate that. I'm open if someone local decides to check it out and save the car.  I'm with you on that.

I'd you still decide go through the part out. I would like that speedometer  cluster and the rear bumper, I was going to ask what kind of shape the rear bumper is in but then read your comment about not having seen the car. If somebody else is interested in the front I'd definitely be interested in the back

Not to burst your bubbles. But the car may be more valuable in parts than in whole. If the rust is extensive for all intensive purposes to be remediated professionally sourced, the cost could side well beyond the purse of the meager financially  endowed. But to sell or purchase on speculation that it "could be saved" doesn't render it more valuable as a whole. Virginia is fairly aggressive with safety inspection for standard plates cars and rusted floor boards are a no go. Historic plates side steps the issue but the penalty for displaying historic plates in a non-Historic regulatory manner is a 5 year revocation on registration.

Like wise for the seller. To plan to break a car for parts that you are not doing yourself and hence selling those parts third party relies on a lot of assumptions of trust. Breaking a car to sell is time and space consuming. And if you are not able to represent the parts as ready to ship and available to inspect from pictures as to the condition makes the value of the parts relatively speculatory as well.

No skin in the game. Crush it if it suits you. It's only a carcass of an economy sedan that's 40+years old. Title/No title $125/ton At the crusher

Another car will get my wife a horse, so I fold.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
