  1. To wrap this up. After talking with the shops above and looking around, it seems like the PE3-IG2 from Performance Electronics will be a good alternative.
  2. Sorry to see this stalled out, but it’ll make a great project for someone so inclined! Kind of wish I had the space and I’d get it for my kids. Any buyer who needs a speed run on M20 swaps is welcome to shoot me a message with questions!
  3. It was at this moment I realized @danco_'s character arc will end with him simply turning into @TobyB
  4. Rodolfo, you've over thought this to the point of being indecisive. You are going to second guess nearly every comment, as you should, because our experiences will vary. Cracks or chips in any coating will allow for water ingress. Much of any abatement will be due to your own due diligence and attentiveness. I like butyl plus thin layer of carpet padding in footwell areas, but again... to each their own.
  5. John, As mentioned it's for the 121 head that was bored in a hemi-shape. Here's a visual reference I posted nearly ten years ago. The NOS Motorsport Head as listed came from Vasek Polak's liquidation years prior.
  6. Looks like a great blank canvas on which to build a tastefully upgraded 2002. Jim’s being an excellent example. There are an ever increasing amount of people removing themselves from social media (myself included) and rediscovering forums. I hope you’ll get a chance to do a blog here, as that’s the only way many will follow along with your progress.
  7. Great price, barring what has already been mentioned. Tell us when it’s in your garage. Post lots of pictures, and we’ll help you out. If your not mechanically inclined but wanted to change… the 02 is just about the perfect learning platform on which to do so.
  8. My supremely knowledgeable opinion; who cares? Unless you bought the car as an investment….? Do what you think is best. This was just talked about at length if you go back a page or two. Riveting conversation (get it?)!
  9. Sounds like a long fun road you’re on. Welcome to the faq, look forward to seeing your project!
  10. In regards to your shifter… 1) the kit Jim linked above is no different than one of IE’s kits. The idea being you run the later 2002 hardware and a later bmw shift lever. Toby and I like to verbally chastise each other on our differing opinions on early vs. late shift hardware. 2) Given your race car bench mark…. it won’t happen in a street2002. You can improve a sloppy 2002 shifter with kit(s) like the one above (also recommend replacing the two shift plate mounts and support rod bushing) and get maybe %50 towards your benchmark. It’ll never feel like an s2000 though. 3) You can go with a tunnel mounted shifter like AKG or bimmerworld, but while the shift lever itself will be planted feeling, you’ll need urethane motor/trans mounts to similarly stiffen the drivetrain. In short, there’s no golden bullet. Your friend may be well-meaning, but given your benchmark, perhaps it’s not the best advice. —— On the panels, yes on later green clips.
  11. Which part are you trying to remove, exactly? Here’s a skeleton shot. @leucadian , billet mount a nice touch, looks great.
  12. I get an average of one a week. Over on r3v it can be up to three per WTB add.
  13. To repeat, yes get something with a radius. It helps immensely with off-idle acceleration stumbling and smooth power delivery. here’s an example of what you need… Weber slot in trumpet to suit 40s, 16mm long - Eurocarb WWW.DELLORTO.CO.UK Top quality machined alloy trumpets, exclusively made for us in the EU to our design. Made from...
  14. With large spacers and large flares.
  15. oooh, yeah. RHD and Turbo M20 is going to be a challenging combo. @camperman had a really cool RHD M20 swap running triple IDF carbs. Something to consider!
  16. If you search the m20 swap thread, I posted a side by side comparison between the 245 and 260. New tunnel, or splice/widen the existing one. Just try to align the transmission’s output flange with the diff input as close as reasonable. Good luck on the swap! Love the m20.
  17. Hi @WgaryL , Looks like shipping cost is around $120 to the East Coast via UPS Ground. I generally take on the packing materials cost (use a Homedepot bin).
  18. @Schnellvintage @Lorin thanks guys. Will reach out to them tomorrow.
  19. @jimk big caveat: Wiring/electrical is not my strong suit (but putting in a dedicated effort towards learning the basics right now), so i appreciate your input. From my understanding the megasquirt/megajolt run this setup. I “think” that the base mount on the DFU (they have a machined base for the coil packs and there is a sealed backside with electrical potting (?) integrates the igniters. Still hoping to find an XDi but we’ll see..
  20. Right you are. I’m hoping to find someone with an XDI unit before trying to integrate the DFU wasted spark panel with a different brain. Thanks Ben
  21. I think hell just froze over. Seriously though, I’m sorry to hear about the car’s right side. Best of luck on the overhaul
