  1. For posterity… information on oils/lubes can be resourced here.
  2. Color me confused. Many moons ago I did this with the IE kit on my own car, it was the first set of instructions I ever wrote at IE. Never had a problem with reverse. You’re literally just switching to later oem hardware. Anyone with a square tail would have the same problem. What Tzie is showing is the later selector rod joint, which, yes, is included in the kit. My initial guess is that something is keeping the selector rod from fully pivoting. - worn bushing at base of support arm could allow the back of the platform to lean down. (Same goes for the front two platform bushings). -selector rod oriented on the wrong side. -if you took the rear trans bolts out and put the one that is slightly shorter in the wrong location. shoot me a pm, maybe can help video or something to sort it out.
  3. Arguably, this is my favorite part of the story. If you let him join the FAQ, we’re here to help. Plenty of us on here are dads who have helped our kids and others learn to wrench on an 02 (it’s a gateway drug to a STEM degree).
  4. ^ two sounds about right. My total budget was around 6, and I have 1.5 ish left over.
  5. John, glad to hear it. Looking forward to some color. Bergie, hopefully these help. Pictures show exactly where the lines should be. https://www.flickr.com/photos/152898763@N04/albums/72157688836659335/page3
  6. Seems about right. This is a core engine. “ran when pulled” is nice to know but doesn’t indicate a big value bump. Having the flywheel attached is a nice plus though.
  7. Welcome BW, there are a lot of us in SoCal, there are also a lot of us who are engineers (or at least pretend to be!). Please post a picture when you can! 71 was a crossover year with earlier ones being fairly different than later. What city in SoCal? I’m in Garden Grove.
  8. Oooh, but one of the China remakes made a 3-bolt sprocket. Forgot about that one. Don’t think they were sold separate from the pump though.
  9. It started life as a three bolt, but new 3-bolt sprockets haven’t been available new in since 2010-ish. As noted, they do pop up as nos pretty frequently though. Not a tii specific part.
  10. Just a note, there was one on eBay last week. He wanted stupid money for it. Maybe you could reason with him via offer option.
  11. Put it in the build blog archive section (since it functions the same way as the general section but is actually intended for our builds. Makes it easier for someone to look up your project as well) and will get the section name changed to “build threads” or similar.
  12. No reasonable durability issue inside functional lifecycle window, and less reciprocating mass. Pretty common upgrade on performance/racing builds. To each their own.
  13. There have been several in the past who very pointedly used the general section in order to create hype around a car when they go to sell/flip it. A slick marketing strategy, but not much actual enthusiast intent. Perhaps changing the name from “Project Blog - archive” to “Project Build Threads” given the section is still active and setup the same as the general thread style.
  14. No. That’s not the intent of this general section, posting directly to here comes across as a bit grasping for attention. As mentioned the blog archive section would be more in line if you wanted the classic forum experience. I agree with not finding the “new” blog section appealing, but it’s certainly more structured. The old style makes engagement less organized but more interactive. Generally speaking, interactions are less on any personal project blog when compared to community-type threads.
  15. A bittersweet story. Thank you for being here. Pricing I’d estimate to be $400-$600 for the wheels depending on time/place.
  16. Soooo…I feel like this is a reunion now. This is a really good deal. Hawk pads and including the longer e-brake cables make it even better. I’d be picking these up as backups if I didn’t have other more urgent expenditures. Would be leery of selling anything to Mr. Jenkins though.
  17. Well, I’ve got just the base portion… in perfect condition. If you’d like it, let me know. $40.
  18. Welcome, you will find a disproportionate number of engineers on here. Where do you go to school?
  19. Wish I was there. Have a great time, and please post tons of pictures.
  20. I have been making them for several years, and am in El Segundo during the work week.
  21. Hans, they are not available new any more. Wish that was the case. I need to get these from Jake as well.
  22. Delicious! Summer is going to be so much fun for you. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.
  23. It certainly has more in it, there are several running the 2.9L Ultimate Street Stroker combo with 215-230whp. I'm guessing a stock M10 on that dyno would be around 95whp and a tii M10 around 112whp. Sounds fantastic, can't wait for some spirited driving videos.
