  1. I used a nut w/ reinforcement. Lot's of good threads on this if you search. Here's a quick one.... https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/246148-b-pillar-belt-mount/
  2. They’re getting spendy. id suggest this recent new part Water Divider for BMW M10 Engine POLISHPOWERTRAIN.COM Closest BMW Equivalent: 11531274009, 11-53-1-274-009, 11 53 1 274 009, 11.53.1.274.009 Read our...
  3. Lies and deception. We caught another one everybody! However, you will find many here will go to the ends of the earth to help someone who shows a desire to learn how to help themselves (myself included). The 02 is a fantastic car to learn to work on mechanical-wise. My initial advice is similar to others (read a ton) and put the word out.
  4. easy to put this way… if I’ve got a slightly leaky old engine, then I take half of that engine and seal it up new and tight… then the other half of older leaky bits will see the increased pressure/blow by. In short, the existing issues will be exacerbated… but to what degree it’s impossible to say exactly. I get where he’s coming from. But as long as you realize that your bottom engine issues wont get better and may be slightly more noticeable, then slap it on.
  5. Terribly sorry, I don't recall the color. In the pre-paint phase I sprayed a couple generic light greys on a piece of cardboard and held it up to a NOS bumper section to compare. Thank you, best of luck on your winter project. Finding a good old-school chrome shop will be the main concern. Hopefully Wisconsin still has some left!
  6. Seeing the insides of hundreds of chrome bumpers .... this reflects my experience. This color is close, but not "perfect", but with so many variations the "correct" finish is an illusion.
  7. That hole certainly looks a bit on the rougher side. As mentioned before, nuts on the backside are a nice touch. However, you will need to remove the glass to make it happen. I'd suggest an improved version of what others and myself have done. A securing plate on the backside with tack-welded or brazed nuts. With the nuts solid to the plate, snugging them up wouldn't require glass removal in the future.
  8. Hi Doug, Welcome to the FAQ, glad to have you here. You will find many questions have been asked and answered numerous times before. The articles section and the search function will yield a lot of great information. There are a lot of FAQ members in the northwest and some great shops. My personal favorite is Patrick of Midnight Motorsports in Seattle. You'll find his name mentioned many times before. Looks like you've picked up a great looking early 02 hotrod with lots of fun bits. I really like the interior choices. Despite the very cool engine bits, you'll find a number of us are rather skeptical about the HP claims. However, at the end of the day it's got to be very very fun to drive. Andrew
  9. I could be wrong, but when I was hunting for my StihlAuto Diana wheels, I found that the wheels you posted existed. They looked fantastic, but after a year of looking, I never found a set come up for sale. Not surprised they sold quickly. Bummer you missed them, best of luck on the wheel hunt.
  10. Always enjoyed his input here. A reminder how fleeting our time is, he will be missed.
  11. nope. ain't no way. This isn't a Monza or Lake Bugatti. Nice parts though.

Jeez this looks like it was fun.
  13. Hahahaha, I needed a good laugh this morning. I sure don’t see any Kuglefischer on there. It’s an ITB kit coincidentally mounted onto an Alpina intake manifold. If this come stateside to a reputable shop, I’ll give the owner $200 if it manages to reach 200 flywheel hp, let alone 200whp. Some poor guy is going to have a pouty face.
  14. You're velocity stack length is variable dependent on your booster choice and manifold choice. If want to assemble your own set and want to chat, feel free to PM me your number. Here's some reference photos. https://www.flickr.com/photos/152898763@N04/albums/72157662611896578 @Mtechnic Over the summer I've been rebuilding/assembling x2 2002 DCOE kits w/ Italian weber 40's and 45's. Still need to grab @halboyles linkage and do final pre-dyno jetting. They'll go up on the FAQ classifieds in a couple weeks. Won't be cheap, but will be fair.
  15. Mercedes bracket from Ireland Eng. Couple rubber washers from Home Depot and bob's your uncle. Side perspective:
  16. Jeff, answering thousands of phone calls and getting to know so many enthusiasts I found a large number of friends/customers go back and forth between a Miata and a 2002. It was more than an anomaly. Shoot, even the gentleman (can't recall his name now) who started FlyingMiata would call and we'd talk at length about the 2002/Miata correlation. He had a couple 02's at one point. 02's have been competitive on the national level in FSP. That being said, they've been roundies. It's rare you'll find a class competitive square tail, given the higher weight. ------------------ Those "lsd"'s are a joke. They've been covered here before. Either keep an eye our for an E30/E36 pumpkin and a fine-spline 2002 stock case... it takes time/luck/speed but can be built without TOO much expence.
  17. They aren't "BMW" bearings to start with. There are plastic-cage and metal-cage bearings, either work. If there is no pitting on the roller, worm, and race,.... and there's healthy adjustment left on the top screw, then it's absolutely worth putting up a WTB add for a couple used-but-healthy bearings and yeah...... that arm can be a battle, glad to hear of your VICTORY!
  18. Mr. Dixon (FAQ member) has done a couple S62 swaps to great affect.
  19. I'm a late-nineties anime fan (feel old enough to admit it now, but young enough to be made fun of by many my senior here). Always loved this cartoon illustration of the 02.
  20. I do not have experience with the MVP control arms yet, so I can't make any relevant comments regarding their fitment. However, talking to multiple suppliers dealing directly with MVP, I do know that they are surprisingly proactive in fixing/updating issues (much more than BMW is with their OEM reproductions). Therefore, if there is a relevant issue regarding their fitment, I would not characterize said part as eternally deficient. It will likely be fixed/updated at the next production run. **Edit: If you were looking for the older posts talking about the control arm bushing fitment, there are at least three I can think of, but do not have the free time to dig up.
  21. You're up in Ventura, but if you're down in Garden Grove in the evening, you're welcome to take measurements from my car. Just PM me, can remove the bumper so it's easier.
  22. The documented issues I've laid out have been OEM arms with new OEM bushings.
  23. Lokar makes a circular one that does nicely. I've seen it on a couple late cars with the clean no-console look.
