  1. Hi, hey bill i have seen this before and what i found out from my friend who works at the dealer is that the tailhousing is designed to handle 4 or 5 seals over its life time before the case needs to be opened. so get another shift selector shaft seal and install it directly over the old one. also, do set it in 1-3mm below the edge of the case. good luck stone
  2. Hi, if i remember right the buzzer is actually in the column housing. you can disconnect it by finding the three wire connector which has brown red and green wires and is usually to the left of the column just at the point where the paper panel and the plastic bottom cover meet. disconnect it and the buzz should stop. good luck stone
  3. Hi, is there some way to see a full list of all the regestered people? chris
  4. Hi, the lights come on because they are controled by your speedometer cable turning. get under the car and follow the speed cable from the back of the trans to the small black box near the clutch slave cylinder. there are two small cylinders that stick out of the bottom side of the box, these are reset buttons. use a small screw driver and push into the box untill you hear a click sound. do both cylinders. sometimes one does not have a push in and sometimes one may have a rubber cover on it. as an alternative you can yank the wires that go to it and usually the lights shut off. good luck stone
  5. Hi, i have no other way to contact you. i would like to talk about the car and what you would like in trade or cost. e-mail me please. stone02 at verizon dot net thanks stone
  6. Hi, well i am at work now so maybe we could get some pictures scanned by C.D. but i think that the connections should be ground, battery, signal from key switch, and #50 momentary hot for tii start circuit. but, maybe i have had it wrong for years. i also looked at the wiring diagram in the blue book for RHD 2002 tii which was the clearest to see and the same parts are there but the numbers are very different. we need a clear scan of the wiring harness. stone

  8. Hey Bill, in the owners manual page for wiring tii, #'s27,30,43 are all part of the cold start components. they draw there regular power from fuse 11 but they also feed from terminal 50 on the starter. this is the top spade connector on the starter solenoid. also see your wiring info in section 61 under tii (61-0/34) they seem to be numbered one different.blue book... also see the fuel supply section 13 for another diagram of the cold start components. hope that helps a little. stone
  9. Hi, i am interested in seeing pictures or send them to my e-mail in the profile section. any other info like paper work or history? thanks stone
  10. Hi, the starter connection that you photoed, bottom side of the solenoid, is for the ignition connection that triggers the solenoid to run the starter. make a pigtail and attach it to the female connector on the harness. if you can you should heat shrink a cover over the male/female connection, to keep it from pulling apart from the vibration. next, check the top connection for power only in the start mode. lately i have gotten several starters that did not supply intermittent positive for the cold start circuit. i even sent a note to bosch about this apparent change/difference but got no responce. lastly, the BIG ANSWER, most starters are be- comming smaller and lighter and this is due to newer magnet technology. magnets are now comprised of ceramic instead of iron. if you wack the starter hard enough on the casing it will crack the ceramic and the field polarity will change. then the starter will either not start or will drag slowly and draw high current from the battery. good luck stone
  11. Hi, i run a small one man shop in philadelphia. 25 years experience 30 cars worth of parts plus. day job and family has shortened my time but i am not swamped. stone racing co 215.520.6718 chris
  12. Hi, drums that have been on for a while will require a lot of persuation. first release the parking brake cables so that only one nut is still on the cable. next jack the car up and remove only one wheel. put the wheel under the car right next to where you are working along the rocker panel. now get a 3 lbs sledge hammer and hit between the studs. you may want to put the lugnuts back on to protect the threads of the studs. now rotate the drum 1/3-1/4 turn after each hit along the outer edge of the face of the drum. if you hit the flaired flange of the drum it may crack or brake off. as bill said make sure that the shoes are adjusted so that the drum is as free to rotate as possible. you will know when the drum is free because it will appear to have move out on the center hub just a little bit. now pull with your fingers and spin the drum and it should slide off. good luck stone
  13. Hi, to move cars around the shop without the trans i do this. reinstall the center bearing loosely to the floor mount. thru the hole where the shifter goes, loop a bungie chord under the drive shaft and back up thru the shifter hole. now put a large bar across the hole and hange the bungie on the bar. this will keep the drive shaft centered and off the gound. the shaft will spin freely along its axis because it is basically balanced. remember to put wheel chocks on both sides of a wheel after you move it. good luck post back who's way worked for you!! stone
  14. just a quick note i am 45 today. that makes 25+ years working on 2002's. many people have come and gone but they are all part of a great crowd of addicted nut cases. good luck to all that i know and those that know of me. stone
  15. Hi, if this fuse blows regularly then check the exposed wires in the trunk that go to the tail lights and the wires that go to the fuel tank. most likely something slide around in the trunk and hit a wire. good luck let us know the outcome stone
  16. Hi, the inner panel is on cars that have the big bumpers. i have seen many cars with the inner part delaminated from the outer with no visible damage. i think that the panel is put on the cars so that in a slow speed impact, these newer panels are there to transmit the load of the hit into the body as the bumper shocks absorb the initial impact. the panel backs up the actual quarter panel so it doesn't wrinkle. good luck stone
  17. the hose that you have referenced is the vapor recovery hose that attaches to the vapor canister in the trunk. at the engine end it connects to the underside of the air cleaner. all it does is draft the fumes from the gas tank so that they don't escape into the air. good luck stone
  18. Hi, this is just a guess but, this engine was used in other car bodies and the picture may have come from something like a 2000/1800 tiilux from 1966 or 67. you are right about the battery tray. great piece of sluething. good luck, stone
  19. Hi, the easiest way to remove the steering arm from the center tract rod is to hit the steering arm squarely on the side with a regular hammer and after a few hits the cone shaped part will drop out of the arm. the other choice is to buy a pickel fork and drive that into the joint between the two parts. the second choice is harder on the parts if you plan to reuse them. good luck stone stone racing co phila pa 215.520.6718
  20. Hi, that bracket is for what used to be a neutral start switch holder. i have only seen one that was complete in 24 years of working on 02's. ignore it good luck stone
  21. Hi, if you are going to change the rear plug remove the motor again. i have changed many freeze out plugs in 02's but the rear one is by far the most difficult one to change. number 4 cylinder is directly behind the plug. take your time and avoid profanity by lubricating the area with plenty of alcohol. (not the parts) good luck stone
  22. Hi, are you trying to describe the bracket that comes from the motor mount past the starter and holds the cable so that the loose end can attach to the throttle linkage? i have one i think. let me know. in this post or email stone
