Hi Jim
I have always towed my race car in my trailer by strapping down the wheels in an X pattern, chocking them and leaving the car in neutral. I'll check out Marshall's setup.
Very cool. Been around steel bicycles for a long time and it reminds of "cold setting" to realign the rear triangle of a bike frame (though you are using a load more force )
Coolant expansion tank- wanted something out of the way in the 02 engine bay. Usic Choi from Total Motor Werkes came up with the idea of a rain tray install. He modelled in CAD (cardboard aided design) and designed and fabricated the piece in alu, now wrinkle coated black. I like the simplicity of the finished product.
GTS classics is another option. They have some sporty vintage designs.

I think your current seats look spot on and are no more obtrusive than a set of Scheels.
I bought new flag mirrors in 2007 for my tii resto. They both had the plastic trim in that light gray colour. I think you can order the plastic trim to match for your left mirror. I have exactly the same steering wheel for my M2. Bought it with a 2002 hub from an eBay vendor. Need to dig into the boxes to make sure it has all the necessary parts. Car looks great, colour, stance etc etc.
Saw this for sale, not mine, no affiliation. Body and engine look rough. Interior decent, the person who placed the ad seems like a character.

Back in the '90's I bought my first 02, a 76 Siennabrun which lived most of its' life on Vancouver Island. It had no bottom, shock towers etc etc. My first foray into the 02 world taught me a lot of lessons about long distance buying
72 tii agave
Not mine/no affiliation, seller says in person only
"minimal rust", watch anything from the island as "minimal" is subjective

About $12500 USD at the ask price
It's a street car for me, I had an E46 M3 new and it was a great street car. On the track, yes for sure a tank, but I would love an S54 for my E36 M3 race car
Set goals for the finished product
Get a good space to work in
Be safe working under the car
Take lots of pics
Bag and label your parts
Take your time
Read the FAQ's and the Project blogs
Get to know a good parts supplier like Blunt
Pick up a few restoration guides specific to 2002's
Get a set of the Blue Binder shop manuals
Meet people in your area who have restored an 02
Budget and then expect a large cost overrun
Go to 3-4 shops before deciding who will do your body and paint work
Race parts like super stiff bushings are for race cars.
start a project blog
Enjoy!
I ordered one with 6MT. Needed a new fun daily driver. It's about the same weight as an E46 M3. Agree NA would be nice but it's going away, which makes our 02's even more special.
Good plan. I am running OE on my M2 build. I think the higher durometer stuff should be saved for race cars. I ran it in my tii and it was buzzy with a lower revving motor.
Harv it's super cool your car is coming down. One of my favourites. The Touareg is a towing beast. I tow a 20' enclosed trailer with my race car with mine.
I'm driving down from Toronto in my M2, well that's the plan as long as it's done.
