  1. My Dad's 2760007 '72 tii had chrome 3 lever bezels. And all the other early "71" tii's had chrome 3 lever ones too. There's a nice set of chrome ones on ebay right now... Item number: 300121533850 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2002-Early-Chrome-Climate-Control-Face-Plates_W0QQitemZ300121533850QQihZ020QQcategoryZ10076QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. Early and late 320i alts are very different, the early 77-79 is what you want (Bosch # AL116X) not the late one. [/img]
  3. Yeah, my dad and I both noticed at the same time, it was really cool! It was, it was really cool to do a "bread and butter" double take of Nick Craw at he same time. We watched last weeks race togeather too.
  4. Yup, my thoughts too, strut mount studs... but the allen/hex ones perplex me. They look too short for the sway bar to subframe bolts. On later cars (e30 318i M10) a short allen like thet is used for the ground wire to the block at the starter bracket though. I have no idea why there'd be 15 of them!?
  5. Wait! You must slide back the black covers to be sure of wire colors, the one in the center may be the black or black/yellow one for the starter NOT the blue one for D+. Darn those black covers... confusing me and all! Where IS this harness from anyway??????[/b]
  6. I'm guessing you've got the starter bracket for the 2bbl intake manifold, the one that has an extra portion that goes up to support the manifold. The earlier starter brackets (#12 41 8 720 035 appears to be NLA) simply supports the starter only and does not extend up to the manifold. 1) You can go the simple route and cut off the offending portion of the bracket. Pretty simple if you ask me. 2) Get another bracket for the 1bbl earlier '02 that doesn't have the offending extra portion. Also simple, if you know of a nice BMW dismantler like... http://www.double02salvage.com/ 3) Get a "new" rebuilt BOSCH 2002 starter (bosch # SR71X or BMW #12 41 1 466 096) as they're now the new style like the E30 M3 ones. They're just not as powerful as an "M3" starter. Yes the smaller style doesn't require a support bracket like the much heavier original type. Also there's more room to work around them, thus being much easier to install too. See more info on the "new" SR71X Bosch starter here.... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/p,275704/highlight,/sid,1103ed322a5dcf00095c80c0769be911/ 4) Get a used or rebuilt Bosch e32 or e34, 735i or 535i starter (this is what I use), they're also of the smaller style and more powerful than the M3 ones. 5) Spend lots of "doah" on a M3 starter for the bling factor..... :-) Also, for those of you OLD Schoolers out there.... NEVER hit one of the newer permanent magnet style compact starters with a HAMMER if it gives you trouble. You WILL break the magnets inside, ruin the thing and void any warranty on it!!!
  7. A nice up grade is to use the bushings from the 320i. Part #18 21 1 712 091. Use 4 of these in place of the little bushings and spacers originally there. You will still need two of the #18 21 4 690 192 washers. These later e21 320i exhaust bracket bushings last longer and, and....well they're just better.
  8. #3 washer is #18 21 4 690 192. They appear to be avalible, SSF has a list $ of .41 cents......
  9. Are you sure you did a FAQ Forum Search..... This was near th top of the list on a search of "seat belts" in the forum search..... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,289130/highlight,seat+belts/
  10. Don't forget to add a #12 31 1 356 564 to the alt. It's used for radio noise supression. They come on all of those internally regulated alts on their original applications. I always transfer them over to the new alternator when changing them on later BMWs.
  11. Yes, that appears correct, the one w/ the 90deg connector looks like the one that goes to the coolant temp sender. Underneath the black covering the large one with the round eyelet should be red, the middle one w/ the straight connector should be blue while the bottom one, if it is indeed for the temp sender should be (what year is the '02 anyway!).... Is this a new Factory front wire harness? Where is it from?
  12. Does the new engine portion of the harness have a blue D+ near the big red B+ for the ALT? Since you're converting to a '77-79 e21 320i alternator anyway a D+ to the instrument cluster round plug (ask which pin if you need), a big brown 10 or 8 gauge ground from the alt to the head or block and a corresponding red 8-10 gauge for B+ to the starter or to the battery + is all you need.
  13. Give Donsco Performance a call (650) 592-1131 http://www.donscofuncar.com/ they're in Belmont (the closest aircooled Hot Rod VW parts place near you that's open on Saturdays!), they're open till 3 today (saturday 6/16/07). Another one is The Buggy House in Hayward... http://www.thebuggyhouse.com/ Ask either one if they have an EMPI Carb Syncrometer in stock.... 14. One hour left and bidding is up to $3200. This is a NOS quick ratio steering box, in the box..... Yes that's right folks, more than most of us paid for our entire cars!! Item number: 260126032133 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260126032133&rd=1,1 Not affiliated, I AM NOT the seller.
  15. Not of my cars but here ya' go... 45 DCOE engine setup pictures galore... I'm collecting the pieces for my own 45 DCOE setup and did a Google Image search to find these for my own reference. Some of these cars belong to people on this list.
  16. Dished M10 pistons = My educated guess is E30 318i, or... possibly late 1.8 E21. I can't find a pic right now, I've got some on my home computer if ya' need em'.
  17. Got my polyurethane bushings from http://suspension.com/ Don't know about now but in '04 they had better prices than anyone and only carried them in BLACK not the usual red like most you see. They were Energy Suspension bushings.
  18. I went to the Wine Country Classic vintage races http://www.winecountryclassic.com/ this weekend and watched a '78 Lola T-298 sports racer lap Sears Point to come in second in his race. This car uses a M12 engine! I also popped in on an aquaintence, Bill Watson of Road Rockets who happens to be the engine builder for that Lola and had its spare engine on a stand. Someone like them may know people looking for parts for those M12/7 motors..... Road Rockets Bill Watson 29259 Arnold Dr. Sonoma, CA 95476 (707) 939-8000 bmwroadrockets@yahoo.com For more on thet Lola T-298 see..... http://www.thomanderson.com/writing/Lola-BMW.html
  19. As seen here in machined edge w/ black innards. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/topic_view,threads/p,322557/t,275026/ Do a "Forum Search" for more pics.....
  20. With that PERFECT et25 offset on 15x7's, one would have no problem fitting 205/50-15's WITH rolled fender lips. True, 195/50's are a sure fit BUT if 205's work than why not try'em.
  21. The rarest of rare round tailights are the French ones.... orange center/turn and orange reverse/back up. At the time in France you couldn't have a clear/white light in the rear. Yet also required Orange/amber rear turn lights. http://www.2002haus.com/ Rob Torres' 2790078 French 2002 Voll Cab. Nice pic from http://membres.lycos.fr Enjoy....
