confessing complete ignorance here, but is there some inherent problem with the flasher on a 2002? I've never had any problems with my flashers. Also, is the BMW part so incredibly expensive it's cost prohibitive to purchase the genuine BMW part from Blunt?

No I don’t think so I'm sure you can find them or buy them. The problem you solve with this electronic one is impedance issues from old wires & corrosion. The electronic version gives you a steady flash no matter what and even makes the inside dash light work on a regular basis. I could not beat the price and you did not have to hack the wiring. Just plug and play.

My BMW motorcycle and my 2002 uses the same flasher.

i have been through probably a dozen of BMW flashers and they all seem to stop blinking the dash indicator. The external lights work though. I've even taken them apart and fussed with the mechanism that turns on the interior indicator. It will eventually crap out again...

So now i have a handful of spare relays lying around... because once i did this conversion, i saw the light! i've been saved! Hallelujah!

Hi, thanks to all for attention/time ..... after I installed I tested by just turning on keys and once started it up ...... left it as was and have been on my bike ever since ...... 7-25-10 (today) I took the 1600 up to computer store and flashers where working .... must have needed a drive down the street to get the elec flowing .... drove a little more to show them off ..... I just wired a 3 prong Napa flasher to my BMW R-100s motorcycle.

Turn signals work well now but the Gen warning light does not.

Any ideas out there?

I do not want to disable one system in order to fix another.

Got it fixed now. Was an unrelated problem.

This is a great fix for my R100S.

Napa was able to supply both the flasher and a 3 prong plug and pigtail.

Whata deal!

I'm assuming the ebay link was the correct harness? If so I'm on it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
