oh the high point of my day,,, cameron came over to check out my car and brought along a set of coops billet axle stubs he never ended up using. he gave them to me for a really nice deal so ill be using those on my new tii arms. thanks cameron

Car looks great. Really shines in person and it will be quiet on the inside with the sound deadening material. Was great to see it in person. Glad the billet stub axles will get some good use. like I said, it was going to be awhile before I ever used them so I wanted them to go to a good home. Plus I will get you to give me a ride in the car when done.

so today i got 2 coats on all the inner wheel wells and 1 coat on the underside. that is a shitty job. tomorrow i will put a second coat on the underside and ill be done with that. i used a basic rustoleum satin black over wurths body schutz. underneath the body schutz is a coat of por 15. i didnt want to undercoat because when i look at a car and see that stuff i think its hiding something. my car has 2 small patches underneath and thats it. heres a couple pics

couple of new pics. i finished the sound deadening project this afternoon. i feel like ive been beaten with a bat from sitting all cramped up in the interior putting this stuff down. i remember being 20 and able to stand on my head under a dash and have it not even phase me. those days are gone. i put down about 150 sq ft of edead v1se2 with a weight penalty of 75 lbs. but this isnt a race car. i have a gallon of spray on deadener v3 i will do the inside roof with but i think ill roll it on to keep from having to have to tape the whole thing off again. i also put the final coat on the entire underside and got my fuel lines pretty much how i want them. i just need to determine what im doing for an external pump and plumb that in.

Wow! That is incredible...

I thought with sound deadening, you did not have to do a whole panel, the vibrations would be reduced sufficiently with just a large patch on one area - ie like they do it from factory.

Next time the washing machine is on its spin cycle, put the door matt on top of it... you will see what I mean.

you dont have to do the whole panel. you really dont have to do any. but i think for my own needs more is better in this case. i just want as comfortable and quiet car as possible this time around

When you get the e dead V3 on I would like to know your impressions of it. Do you know about how much it weighs per gallon? I am thinking about using it on the floors and the back walls also.

i will post up when i apply it. i was going to do it today but i have other responsibilities. just picking it up in the can id guess about 10 lbs

i dont know if it works as well as the sheet material or not. im just nervous to put the same stuff i used on the floor on the roof as im not certain it would stay in place in extreme heat. they say it will but i dunno

I actually wouldn't use it on the doors and roof. I have the same stuff, different company, but all the stuff is almost exactly alike on the doors of my truck. The sheet of matting on the outter door panel did fall off onto the glass and made a nice tar spot on the glass. They company also said the same thing that it would stay on in the heat, but I guess the California sun was too much for it. I have since removed it and used undercoating inside the door, but it was kind of messing being the undercoating out of a can.

not too much to update thats interesting really but heres what ive been doing the last couple days. i ran my e30 battery cable and mounted the distribution block on the passenger front kick panel. then i cut a hole and used a stock e30 battery grommet to go thru the firewall for the starter cable,im trying to keep the engine bay as clutter free as possible. i may try and hide as much of the harness as i can

harness004.jpg

then i started installing the harness. i am lucky to have a 1 owner car that the PO never butchered..... not even an aftermarket radio. so all i had to do was clean the harness and re-wrap it. i think i should have used black electrical tape rather than the factory like friction tape. this stuff attracts dirt and i may end up covering it with painless loom wrap as recommended by chuck.i got the main harness in place before realizing i hadnt run it thru the seat bracket so i get to go take the back section out and reroute it today.

heres a shot of the harness partially installed

harness010.jpg

then i test fitted the bracket i had to fab up to hang a stock s14 air cleaner. its just a chunk of aluminum with 2 standoffs i had powdercoated black but it does whats needed.

harness001.jpg

i have a couple days now wher i can be in the garage so im hoping to make some progress. ill post what i get done

Ha! I did that too. Blunt, why did you paint the dash black? Won't the dash cover that area? I didn't paint mine..... yet....

just hearsay that when opening the glovebox you tend to see the paint underneath. my car was all original and it had black paint from the factory. i dunno if any of that is true but i didnt think it could hurt

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
