Three days off, its almost like I’m retired… I’ve been nursing a sore ankle for two days so today I took it easy, and re-wrapped the wiring harnesses…

Took the last week are so off from working on the Baur, been getting our other cars ready to drive…

put the four half shafts ends  back together yesterday…first one took over an hour to get all six ball bearings captured… the second and third ones no more than 5 to 10 minutes and number four was another 45 minutes… it’s right up there with the heater box as far as being a pain in the ass.

The heater box may be the single most difficult "small item" on these cars if you are fully rebuilding it. Totally agree.

Half shafts are up there too, but really to me anything under the dash sucks wind. I'm 6'6" tho.

Looks great Barney.

I have purchased at least three 2002s for less than I paid for this paint, primer and Hardner… the painter hadn’t started on my car yet but I’m next..IMG_9078.thumb.jpeg.32a67128446bdce4acc8ba13e0048bc6.jpeg

I fear this for my red 69 VW project.  You’re doing some amazing work Barney!

today i Picked up my parts from the fellow in San Antonio, who did some Dry Ice Blasting as well as vapor honing on my TII engine and intake.

Also had him dry ice clean two pair of TII brake caliber that I painted today.

Well, some movement forward today on the project I picked at my reupholstered seats for the Baur…   checked/ stopped by the painter he’s making progress but it’s a slow road for sure, I’m getting closer to the front of the line all the time.

Ok, that was an April fools joke… my car won’t be to that stage for a couple months. That Baur is a 74 just like mine painted in Verona red just like mine belongs to a fellow Robert Gutley in the Portland area

Amazing progress...and great April fools joke! I met Robert at an Oregon BMW CCA event back in Feb and heard about his Bauer. Super nice guy and he showed me some pics of his car. That Verona really pops!!

They look comfy Barney, did you use the OEM style pads or did you use modern foam, just wondering how nice they are to sit in?

The car had been off the road for over 25 years so the seats were in good shape for their age, we added a layer of 1/2 foam to all sides to fluff / fill them

up…

cleaned up the transmission today, starting to get it ready.

I was just looking at these again, this pattern and houndstooth panel placement on the back rest would work really well on a 74 style seat…mine were already recovered many years ago.

I love my standard seats to look at but this morning I went out for a drive with a very sore back (been building a laundry extension, than goodness for anti inflammatory’s)  in my tatty old Recaros ….. guess I know why I have them…. If only I could find a way to make my original seats more supportive… gues if it could be done someone on here would have already 🙄
