Stormy and I stopped by Barney’s shop and checked on his progress.  Had to take a quick pic with his son’s 02 before we left.

"To my way of thinking, the 2002 is one of modern civilization's all-time best ways to get somewhere sitting down. - Car and Driver Magazine April,1968

Working my way through a ton of little small projects the last couple of days trying to get the car ready for the painter on Thursday of next week… when you glass bead blast a car, there’s an area in the center of the hood /on the trunk lid and the roof of a regular car that you can’t really bead blast for fear of warping the steel… the hood ended up having three layers of single stage paint. I had to use the side grinder with a sanding disk to get it off the  chemical  stripper would not touch it.IMG_8810.thumb.jpeg.5f38a9b40d126da4dce76f666da6b96d.jpegIMG_8808.thumb.jpeg.ab0234adbeb2f356ba0454f9281c847c.jpeg

Spent better part of two days working on the small trough that catches water that bypasses the canvas roof and

funnels it down to to catch basins that drain it out in the wheel wells

Or not!!

I’ve seen Baur’s with so  much bracing and stripped to the bones you wouldn’t believe it at Jaymic years ago from where all the crap gets in there are the drains block, Swiss cheese doesn’t come close, it’s amazing what a skilled welder / body guy can do!

looking good Barney…😎

Today was a day I’ve been working for a couple of months to get to…250 man hours on my part / 40 paid helper hours and about six k in sandblasting/repair panels/paint/welding supplies /misc…to get to this point.

I sprayed Eastwood cavity paint into the hood and trunk before loading it up and transporting it with Greg Resa’s help to the painter who is in a small town about 75 miles away…

Ok, that was an April fools joke… my car won’t be to that stage for a couple months. That Baur is a 74 just like mine painted in Verona red just like mine belongs to a fellow Robert Gutley in the Portland area introduced to me by Mike Pugh he is a few months ahead of me on his project. He was kind enough to send me those pictures, and I thought it would make a good joke.

I’ve been making good progress on Friday My college-age helper was able to come help me reorganize the shop after sending the car off to the painter. We also dropped the seats off at the upholstery shop, having them done with the black and white pepita houndstooth.

Today I replaced the rubber in front subframes/rear control arms and put second coat of paint on them…

planning to start assembling on Wednesday.

tomorrow I’m taking the aluminum engine parts to get dry ice cleaning….
