I’m not much of a welder and can’t really see that well…forgot to turn gas on this morning.

Picture of repair panel marked up before cutting.

Today I welded in repair panels I cut and fit yesterday…

Metal work takes so much time. It's fun, but constant back and forth as you iterate to your goal.

For heavy metal welds a flap wheel is great but unfortunately for 20ish gauge sheet metal super easy to slip and thin out the rest of the clean metal. For this reason I used a dremel with a largish grinder wheel (2"?) on it to be super controlled and not hit anything I didn't want to hit. Very light 220 air sander at the very end to smooth it out. Was 3X time but I'm not unhappy with it. At the end of the day its very very hard to get thin metal to have an invisible weld.

Seeing is pretty important to the welding result. Not long ago I noticed that it's better to start wearing glasses under welding helmet. It helps, but still not easy as younger.

Thursday pretty much finished with the floor not 100%. I will hit it all again with the welder from the bottom when I put the car on the lift after setting the doors.

Cut out and installed two stiffener panels between the side rails, and the tunnel…filling the gap left where I cut those existing off an inch plus because of rust…

Same here, but I also added a magnification lens to my helmet.  Initially, it was so I would not need the reading glasses, but now I wear both at the same time!  It works really well because all of the work is up close.

Things got serious today, I had to call in the boss lady to help mount/set the doors. Then I removed the fenders to under coat them getting them ready for final install.

the bottom/wheel wells will be painted body color…

Looks great Barney! Haven't used the wurth underseal. Love their other products (use the seam sealer + chip guard). What are your thoughts on it?
