I just picked up a set of Vredestein 185/70/13" from Jeg's...they are not cheap but i have had good luck with them on my other cars...

Interesting that the Jeg's site has them listed as "Coker Tire Vredestein Sprint Classic Tires."  None in 13".

Coker site shows 4 Vredesteins in 13" :

https://www.cokertire.com/tires.html?brand_item=1009&product_list_order=name&tire_rim_diameter=2125

Coker also has old-school Michelins.

The Federal 595s may be the best bang for the buck. They are a cross between a touring and racing tire. While they are officially listed as high performance touring tires, they have very stiff sidewalls, much stiffer than a standard touring tire. And, they handle really well. But, they are made in batches, specifically for the Sprint racing series where they are mandated to use this tire vs. the full blown race slicks so to keep the speeds a little lower. They are not the most comfortable tires, but you can't really have both. If you want that crisp handling in the corners, this is the tire. When available, you can find a set on e-bay for about $300, shipping included. You can't beat that.

Then there are also those elusive Dunlop SP Sport GT tires which are made in Japan. They are also made in batches. I picked up a set a couple of years ago on e-bay for $300. These tires are more sophisticated than the Federal in that they have a softer sidewall, hence a little more comfortable, but surprisingly they are very responsive. I really like them and prefer them over the stiffer Federals. These are asymetrical tires with raised white letters on the outside. I just took a permanent black oil marker, purchased from Home Depot, over the white font. I hope they pop up somewhere again as I regret not getting an additional set for my other car. I've provided pics of them mounted on my 5 1/2" x 13" Cosmic alloys.

The 595s were my original plan - haven't seen them for MONTHS now - I guess it's just waiting on a batch to be made and I'll buy them all up.

Let us know when you find/hoard them so we can buy a set from you :) .  I'll be looking for them, too.

Carlos, have you thought about getting your Cosmic Mk I wheels back to the original black & machined finish?

I really like that look as well. It time to paint my wheels again, and I may opt for the black versions. I know somebody who has an incomplete set of 3. I may persuade him to sell them to me so that I can paint one black and see how well it looks on my car. I think they would look great on my Bristol car. They may look really good on my Granada car as well.

Another vote for the RA1's if you can find them.

The 888 was a mistake.

The RA1 is grippy, not bad in rain, and will wear 'ok'

in normal use.  If tracked, a full- depth set will block- taper

significantly, but I'd buy an RR before I'd shave an RA1.

Some Toyo tires are good.

Some are utter shit.

Don't you need to put them on a lathe and re-cut the face?

Yes, if you want the original machined look. That's how my Cosmic Mk II's are for one of my other cars. I suppose you could just paint black, mask off the black, then paint the surfaced that would be machined in the usual silver/aluminum wheel paint and give it a few shots of satin clear coat

I say go for it - then paint two and put 'em on one side for a while on one of your cars. Down the road you might be able to find one more, or another set of 3 so you have two spares, to even everything out.

I bet they'd look damn good on either car.

That's a nice looking tire for the price! Particularly with the gold centered mesh wheels on a Sahara car - keep up the good taste, brother!
