No Love from Mecum

Was watching a bit of the Mecum Indy auction this evening and saw a Red ‘73 2002 with fog lights that was getting ready to come on the block.  Of course just as it was going to it’s 15 seconds of fame on national TV......it was time for a commercial break and never mentioned.  The web site indicates “The Bid Goes On”.  Anyone know what it was bid up to?  No pics on the Mecum site.

Say that to people all the time about everything- don't believe the hype.  Yep, something might be really good / fun / whatever, but so few things are actually life changing.

Huh I was watching that and didn't see it, guess I tuned in for just to see the endless parade of muscle cars... boo! Never would have expected to see an '02 on a Mecum auction, no wonder the reserve wasn't met.

Any particular reason you don't see too many '02s at Mecum? Ive been to Dallas Mecum plenty of times and haven't remembered seeing one.

I see mostly American muscle cars sold there.  Like Wayne Carini, you need to know the best place/audience for the car.

Not really sure why you would want to put your 2002 into the middle of an auction for a bunch of muscle cars.  If it’s well done, there are so many better options.  If the reserve wasn’t met @ $24K, I must assume it was a nice car.

Most high dollar 2002s and other vintage BMW's seem to end up on Bring a Trailer or Craigslist or on consignment at  Independent BMW shops.

Worse yet, the talking heads at Mecum recently introduced a tii as a "BMW 2002 T2."  Really...
