OK to cap coolant port on rear intake side of block?

Sorry for this cross-post. I posted this in the DCOE install FAQ, but the FAQ pages don't seem to pop up in the normal feed? I will post whatever answers I may get here back into the FAQ thread. So, my question:

I'm installing DCOE 40s. I have the IE water bypass to go from the back of the water pump to one side of the heater core. I just noticed there is a port on the back end of the block that used to route to the old intake manifold. Is it OK to just plug this port? I don't want to create any hot-spots on the block!

Single barrel carb'd engines had a manual choke and this port was not used.  So BMW put a straight threaded plug with a crush washer in there.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

Hang onto the nipple fitting if you remove it.  From time to time there are WTB FAQ'ers looking for them.
