Colorado Roundie Rescue

Went hunting for parts for my Fjord '76, and ended up stumbling into a field of dilapidated dreams.  As luck would have it, I was able to buy a few complete cars, including a long-forgotten '72 Colorado Orange 02.

Step one was just to get it home, inventory parts and overall condition.  Step 2; a much needed power-wash and scrub down!  The carpet was beyond salvaging, so most of that went straight to the trash.  Seats are filthy, but otherwise in very good condition.  Door panels were a little rough, but should be usable.  Rear door panels missing entirely though, sadly.

The car looks a bit scruffy on the outside, and there is definitely some rust to contend with.  But the towers, floors, rockers, windshield surrounds, and subframe mounts are all quite good overall.  This one will have to wait it's turn, but I'll be collecting bits and pieces for it's eventual resto.

The green late-model car looks solid (other than the smushed fender), but is badly rotten underneath, so it's just for parts.  Oddly enough, this very car was the first 2002 I ever drove, ~ 14-15 years ago when owned by a friend!  It'll be neat to have some parts from this car in my other 02s moving forward  :)

Looks like someone tried to remove the grilles but didn't know about the J hooks behind the headlights and gave up--fortunately before ruining the grilles entirely.  It's amazing what that power washing is doing to the hood in your last picture.   Anything worth saving on the other cars?

Good on you! Save the Colorados! Did you find out what the "X"s meant on the windshields. Keep the pics/progress coming.

All of the 2002's were marked for scrap!  One of the technician's there convinced the owner of the property not to crush them.

Absolutely!  The pastel blue car is fairly solid overall; not perfect, but could be saved.  The previously Malaga-now-rust-brown round-tail is too far gone to save, but the other green car is a '73 Tii with a complete drivetrain.  Been off the road since the 90's, so not a small project, but absolutely should be pulled out of there.

Are the others in the Raleigh area?

Yep, all in Raleigh.

I've had several people message me about the Tii; it is available for purchase.  It has no title currently, is missing the passenger strut assembly, Tii clock is gone (or the incorrect dash installed) and has been off the road since the 90's.  The motor/drivetrain appears complete.  Without moving the car or more invasive digging, I'm not sure what the rust situation is on that car currently, but I can attempt to assist any potential serious buyer with more info/pictures.  The current care-taker is looking for ~$3500 for the car, but there's a little wiggle-room there, I'm sure.

Just needs a little love... and better rims! ???

Double check the VIN before buying. It should be 276xxxx.

Nothing confirmed yet, but I'll be heading back out to get some more pictures and details for folks who were interested.  See if we can't re-home and save a couple more cars!
