Do you see the rear wheel housing covers in this photo (originally silver-gray vinyl, but painted mostly black in this example), you've got to remove those coverings and reveal the metal underneath.  Many (most?) owners are reluctant to allow others to do this, making rust detection more problematic....

 

But, based on this offering, the pricing of your Alaskan example is sounding more....reasonable!

Yes and no, Hans.

 

In the '70's, I thought the 2000CS was, quite simply, funny looking.  But I took one look at Ed's (zinz's) above and said, to myself, "That is absolutely gorgeous!"  Sometimes both the object and subject change over time.  In this case, I suspect I've done all the changing, finally appreciating the cleanliness of '60's German (and Italian?) design.

I have to say the original chrome wheel rings and the colour really flatter Ed's car. I always enjoy opening the garage door on mine. I've had people ask if it was a new model.
