Has anyone installed a wideband setup with datalogging such that you could examine where in the rev range your AFR's vary or might need adjusting ? Need to buy a system for the track car and frankly I don't watch gauges a great deal while on track. Granted I'm still running carbs which may give less latitude for adjustment but I'd still like to know if I'm in the ballpark or if I'm leaving unrealized power on the table.

Thanks HackMechanic that's what I'm looking for. Ideally, if someone were to make a mold that would essentially extend the area around the instrument cluster for the change pocket that would be great. I was thinking of using the below, but it's probably too deep and would require extensive modifying.

That piece I used has serial output as well.  I assume it could be used with a logging system.

An alternative to Rob's housing that's mounted to the left of the instrument cluster (and much cheaper) is a two inch "street ell."  That's a piece of plastic plumbing pipe that's shaped like the upper end of a periscope.  A 2 1/8" gauge will fit right into one end with a little trimming on the pipe's ID, and then you can rig up any number of ways to fasten it to the dash, after sanding down and painting with semi-gloss black paint.  

 

If you have an early car with the hazard switch mounted there, you can move it to a position under the dash and utilize the ready-made mounting hole for your gauge.  If there's no hole, use velcro to mount it, and very thin ribbon wire to connect--you can unobtrusively run the wire around the end of the dashboard and back under the dash so it'll hardly be visible.  Or just drill a hole in the dash...

yes. i use a Traqmate DA system and a Maxx Alpha-N engine management system to record data about the car and engine. vehicle dynamics data analysis is an outstanding way to improve your driving. third only to seat time and incar video.

all the WBO2 systems i have seen on the market today have an analog output for datalogging. all the DA's systems can take it as one of the inputs.

PS- you should ALWAYS know what your guages are saying while on track. they are your early indication that something is about to blow up. that is why my AFR and OP gauges are on top of my dash where they are in my line of sight at speed. a guage sweep should be a regular part of your eye scan for situational awareness on track.

back on topic....for a street car, eurotrash and albone have some cool stealth displays to keep a lower profile.  jgerock's pod mount is a nice inexpensive and easy solution that is also pretty low profile and the analog gauge is more period correct. all good setups.  only bad setup is to put it in the center console where you can't see it.
