Local Los Angeles BMW parts supplier?

the Santa monica BMW is a complete RIP OFF.

I am trying to order rain gutter trim. Blunt gave me a quote but he fears the shipping will be crazy.

the part is found online (and from blunt) for about $100 a side. But $45 to ship.

Santa monica BMW wants $160 a side. no shipping.

Does anybody have any Local LA parts departments they use that aren't total rip offs?

Santa Monica BMW has a horrible parts department - not only expensive but completely dis-interested in older parts.

I've had good luck using my BMWCCA discount at Irvine BMW. Maybe not as quite as competitive as BLUNT but I don't have to pay for shipping.

Ask for Alex in the parts department.

You can order replacement parts from people like mesa performance, ireland engineering, and lots of others in the extended valley, but if it's a good BMW parts department you're looking for I've had good experiences with Savage BMW. They are fair and strait forward, especially if you have part numbers ready.

EDIT: +1 for BLUNT being straight forward in the first place!

Thanks guys. I'll make some calls tomorrow. These are great resources.

and yes, screw santa monica BMW. Too bad they are the closest.

And yes, thumbs up for Blunt.

if you cannot pick up this part, as you have seen, the freight will kill you. because of the bend, it has to go in a huge box, and it becomes dimensional. standard shipping rates are for a 12 x 12 x 12 in box. if the box the part is in is larger, then the 3 dimensions are added, and freight is charged accordingly. we have had a few cancellations for parts going overseas because of this. i think the winner(besides exhaust) is the e46 drip rail. i remember when i was at the dealer. we had stacks of these, in huge boxes. it was kinda like getting a surfboard off the rack. they were really light, but very bulky. if they werent packed like this, you would get a pretzel.

I made some calls and BMA parts seemed like the way to go.

They had the same price and offered to hold for will call or ship it across town for $10.

sure beats $50!

Josh,

Hope all is well. Agree with HAMADA (Ahmed), for my 2002 if its not Blunt, it is BMA, Patrick over there is awsome and extremely fair on prices. I buy parts for my other cars through them as well.

Try to deal with Patrick or his brother Ives. You will be happy. Can't wait to see your finished car and get together for a local drive.

For local pickup or second day delivery, BMA in Glendale is my place to go.

Otherwise, Blunt is very reliable here for out of state orders.

Hamada

+1 Hamada recommended BMA to me a couple of years ago. I've used them for dealer items. They will get you the dealer part for less than the dealer even after the dealer gives you the CCA discount. Great for stuff like mufflers where the shipping will kill you, and for the drip rails.

Excellent, friendly service to boot!

Yep. BMA had the drip rails shipped to me 2 days later for only $10. It looked like a surfboard arrived. It's nice to know there is a local option in LA.

It is a great recommend. thanks.
