  1. The Edd China tip is to use a label maker on the wiring harness, I removed the fuse box and wiring harness this weekend and took a lot of pictures. The color of the wires corresponded to the colors on the back of the fuse box.
  2. COOP, your car was great. I watch the show regularly and this episode sticks out as one of the few where the car portion of the show got so much camera time. A perfect car. Edit: SP
  3. Just got a call that the hood was done, I need to take the drive tomorrow to pick it up but here is the pic he sent! Found another faq member out of Wisconsin through craigslist who had an extra hood which was solid- now I have a stock pastelblau hood and the cheese grater!
  4. Spot on, I don't like forum classifieds being used as a pricing exercise, no matter the desirability of the item for sale if you want to see what a doo-dad will sell for put your money where your mouth is and list it on eBay. Own up to your asking price, if you're afraid people will criticize you adjust your price accordingly- or don't list it where those in-the-know will call you out.
  5. Looking for Zender or Factory BMW Turbo spoiler. PM replies, thank you!
  6. Hey OP, The box flares and pig cheek combo is unconventional but I say build the 2002 you want: if it's a Tii that is a different story . Someone else has had an idea similar to yours:
  7. I purchased a set of his flares second-hand from Mojojoy. I am going to attempt to contact him myself to inquire if he has advice for installing them. I will let you know if I get anywhere- still searching for period pictures of 02's with these flares but here are two other cars/shots of these flares:
  8. Does anyone know the story on the flares on the car in the attached picture? Looking to find precisely which model these were formed from or the period of time. From what I read originals were previously metal and welded on, but no photos to accompany these claims. Throughout the faq they are referred to as "Small Alpina Flares". Thanks,
  9. @76Mintgrun'02 lol I did not even think that the Ghia is rear engined when looking at that picture! Just got off the phone with the metal-guy, unfortunately I need to find another hood. He thinks at some point in the car's life something was dropped on the hood or it was stepped on, and the body shop added "pits" to make the metal rigid once again and then bondo'ed in the gaps. If anyone in the Midwest has a solid hood for a reasonable price please message me. Off to the WTB section...
  10. Because Rock 'n roll! They are going to be on the center of the hood, over the engine in a diamond-like pattern in six rows total between the creases that separate each half of the hood. There is only about a 1" taper inward to these creases, and I already picked up some E9 CSL wind splits to go with. The car isn't going to be stanced or anything else sacrilege to the 2002 ethos, so if the next owner doesn't like it he can easily find a hood to swap it out.The guy doing the louvers generally is exclusive to 30's and 40's cars, so I'm hoping someone can confirm here so I can call him back and tell him to keep plowing through the bondo.
  11. Thank you for sharing Jeff, I dropped my hood off at a Hot Rod shop near the Illinois/Wisconsin border this weekend to have 60-70 pressed louvers added to the hood. He was able to successfully remove the braces, but I got a call this morning that he's found about a 1/4 inch of body filler on the underside of the hood and is hesitant to continue removing it as it appears there has been some very well hidden repair some to the underside of the hood. Does anyone have experience removing gobs of body filler from the underside of the hood? This area is right underneath the braces and since there is no evidence of the braces being removed before I'm hoping that the metal under the paint is in fact solid and the body filler was something done at the factory. I attached a picture here of my hood and an example of the pressed metal louvers I am planning on having added.
  12. Even if it isn't yours I like the Macan Brent! I double take at these all the time- they seem like a complimentary daily to share a garage with an 02. Maybe if I ever finish mine... 2014 Jeep Patriot for commuting to work here. It's cool to see a lot of Faq members with other BMW's as primary vehicles- would be curious to know if those under that category were 2002 owners prior to owning other Bimmers.
  13. Page 18 has good info, thanks for digging that up. Going without the ribs doesn't sound like an option if modifications to ribs effects the rigidity of the hood.
  14. I need access to the underside of the hood where the underside braces run front-to-rear. It appears that I could cut the braces at each end and carefully remove the braces from the hood which are attached with some type of glue or insulator. Two questions: 1. Has anyone seen this done and reinstalled successfully? 2. Are there any cars out there running the stock hood without the braces? Thanks in advanced,
  15. Chooo chooo! All aboard the 2002 hype train!
  16. Some updates: I've been returned $1250 of $1850, myself and Don Sr. have an agreement that the remaining $600 will be returned before Monday night or Tuesday morning. The money was sent yesterday night by Don Anderson at truerc99@gmail.com. Unfortunately it's 2015 and the world is still using traditional currency, so I don't have any way to know if this is the money I sent 8 days prior. Parts I agreed to purchase: LSD 2x Weber 40's Flush turn signals, full set IE 15" Wilwood brake kit, all corners Alpina Wheel with narrow grip and white stitching UPDATE: $600 cleared
  17. This may be my only choice, I was expecting to see my money back in my account this morning to no avail. I'm worried the money that has been repayed is liable to being recalled by the sender. There is no concievable reason that a person would take >$6,000 in PayPal money for parts which they did not have, delete as much digital trail from those transactions as possible, and then come back to say there was a misunderstanding and everyone is getting their money back. Somewhere in that formula our money is getting mixed with other fraudulent funds wired through a mess of PayPal accounts.I never said the word scam once, he probably said it 4 times. He tells me "it's not a big deal" and "I'll take care of it" and has shown a complete lack of empathy for the whole situation and an excuse for why everything went the way it did. If he was sorry I'd have my money right now. I'm very thankful that other forum members were able to track him down before it was too late.
  18. I've also spoken with Don Jr. tonight. I am told my funds will be ready to be transferred back to me Wednesday or Thursday..... If I get my money returned I will chime in.
  19. Man if you're out there Speedracer2002 please send me a message. Sent $1850 for LSD, Weber 40's, Flush signals, Alpina wheel, and wilwood 15" brakes on all corners.
  20. I sent $1850 to him for a laundry list of parts I purchased, my dad talked to him on Friday of last week. Sent an email today looking for the tracking numbers on my parts. If I sent as friends and family am I SOL?
  21. Came across this today on the local Craigslist.... I guess anything is possible http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/cto/5154657504.html
  22. Are Post-73 cars lagging on the price increases compared to the roundies? Or is it arbitrary/finding the right buyer?
