  1. I had an oval shaped rubber gasket / isloator installed under a stock 2 bbl. air cleaner. It was about 1/2" tall. This piece sat on top of an aluminum adapter plate on top of a weber 2 bbl. DGV or 38 DGES. I have misplaced the rubber piece and am looking to get a new one. Any ideas where to get them? Any body have a used one? Was this a stock item for the solex DIDTA installation?
  2. Interesting as I have had a Behr, a Clardy, and a Frigiking and none of them looked like that. My clardy had only one row of vents. The frigiking was vertical on the sides ( did not flare out). The behr only has one row of vents also.
  3. I have used graphite lube ( such as lock-eze) on plugs since my first 1600 in 1981. Threads are clean upon removal. Never a problem.
  4. Any problem with resistor plugs WR8dc instead of W8dc? I use a Bosch red coil w/ pertronix and std. wires / connectors. Thanks for any feedback!
  5. I just had mine replaced this week. I bought the OEM seal in advance and my lockstrip was about 3 years old so i opted to re-use it. They quoted 300.00 installed. Of course there was some rust underneath. They called me over to look at and they said they could wire brush / sand and seal the affected areas and it would take an extra day to let things dry before install of the glass. I checked up on them later in the day and things looked pretty good. The bill was still 300.00.
  6. Check steering box adjustment?
  7. Mine did the same thing. If I recall I removed the seat and slightly bent the rail so that it ran flatter in the channel. This was on the left side only on my seat. I think if you remove the seat you will see the problem better. I did this probably 4 years ago and it has been tight ever since.
  8. I used to run the taller one without any problems. I would check clearance with hood insulation, hood adjustment andmotor mounts to be sure.
  9. I think C.D. is right as to what is salvagable; however A/C is very doable in an 02 if that's waht you want or need. I had a used Behr system installed 13 years ago and have enjoyed COLD air ever since. I did use a new sanden compressor and an oversized radiator for use in Houston climate. That system is now way overkill for the Colorado climate I now drive in. Like every car you will lose performance ( although you will probably not use it during spirited driving or track days) and the car will run hotter when in use.
  10. Delia, Where did you get the black faceplate that fits around the tuning buttons and dial?
  11. I bought a kit recently and thought it to be pretty heavy duty and nice. My upholsterer pointed out that the pattern and seams were stamped. This would result in laying flat as opposed to the raised tuck look that I found in sales brochures for the 75 2002. I sent the kit back and just ordered material only and had them custom sewn to get the original look. I'm not sure about the kit for a 73. Price was about 200.00 more for the custom job but I am happier with it.
  12. I had my flywheel lightened w/ an engine rebuild some years ago. I can't remember the weight but the machining was modest - nothing like a race car. The setup was for depndable street driving. It took a few weeks to get used to it, mainly on take off from 1st gear. Felt like you have to slip the clutch a little more for smoothness. After you get used to it it is very smooth and without any undo wear on the clutch. You can feel the difference in how fast it revs up and also winds down. 100 k miles later it's all good. Just make sure the machining is done by reputable folks who know what they're doing.
  13. Had a local shop replace F & R stock springs and bilstein HD's. Car feels good at speed but there is a very pronouned popping sound heard when turning the wheels left or right at low speeds (< 5 mph). It only happens with the suspension loaded and in forward motion. Any ideas?
  14. How about the factory air cleaner?
  15. Anyone know the difference between "standard" and "reinforced" springs as advertised by Wolleth & nesch? I currently run stock red dot springs with Bilstein HD's. I like the setup and would like to freshen it up after 210k miles on the current parts. The dealer quoted over $800.00 for a set of red dots while W& N's sale would be about $400.00 delivered.
  16. to do pre buy inspection for 325ix. Thanks,
  17. I live in a rural area and am limited to 2 types of grease available locally. Super Tech High pressure multi purpose red grease (does not specifically say disc brake wheel bearing) Lithium soap complex NGL2 drop point 500 deg F Timken OK 55 Sta-Lube - Disc brake wheel bearing - dark gray Aluminum complex NGL2 drop point 450 deg. F Timken OK 40 What's the best to use?
  18. Where did you get that faceplate for the blaupunkt?
  19. Try Glenwood Rallye for a low budget drive with a nice variet of cars. http://mgcc.org/calendar2006/calendar.htm
  20. I've had great wear from bosch remans. I think i've only bought 2 in 25 years of 02 ownership and hundreds of thousand of miles. Now starters...thats a different story.
  21. I've been rear ended 3 or 4 times in 02's ove rthe last 25 years. when it happens it's hard to avoid and I don't think the 02 is very visible. Anyway when there is no contest as to who's fault it is there is no way that the innocent party should come out with a loss. All you want is to be back where you were prior to the accident (that's at a minimum assuming no medical or psycho problems, etc.). The civil courts would defend that. Of course no one wants to go to court including the insurance company. The easy way out is to total the vehicle and give you something way less than what you had before the accident. I would refuse any claim at this point and start doing your homework. Get your receipts together, get written appraisels from shops, dealers, etc., get ads for similar vehicles in your area (yes- determine market value not blue book value), get estimates for repair and keep the one from the shop that YOU want to do business with. Flood the insurance with your paperwork and wait for a second offer. I am sure it will be different than the first. If you don't get enough money to repair the vehicle then they should give you enough to place it with a comparable vehicle. This may take time and patience. Remember you were not at fault here.
  22. As I knew nothing about A/C's I had a shop do a custom install for me about 10 years ago. I seem to remember about $1800.00 - not cheap but well worth it for the Houston climate I was in. New Sandin ccompressor, R12, new drier , insulated hoses (mitigates some of the heat transfer coming above the exhaust manifold), oversized condensor and radiator (cut out some sheet metal for fit). I found a nice Behr console, evaporator, and fan. I think the Behr fan blows more air than the Clardy unit I had previously. It worked well for the driver on the hottest of Houston days. It still works great and is way overkill for the climate here in Colorado.
