  1. finally, and i mean finally, got benetton's car on the road no leaks, and the gas pedal works correctly with the new cable throttle. we've been working on this car for 4yrs and it now runs as it should and its a flippin blast. ireland alpina flares, isky 300*cam, dual weber 40's, ireland header, big brakes, custom interior that is not done yet, but will be shortly, ireland stage II springs/billy sports/ireland adjustable roll bars and Big Dog, this one's for you. your car has been greg's inspiration since he saw it on a drive about 5 years ago
  2. this is how i modified the tep brace on my son's car. we took it out completely. someone had modified the brace to secure to the shock towers by wrapping them with a band of steel and pulling the wrap tight with a bolt/nut. it looked terrible and the brace really didn't do anything except locate the battery, so i welded up simple solution i think if we ever put a rear brace in it would not include a battery holder and would be like the one in the touring
  3. you know the M42 is a great motor there are websites dedicated to the M42 and the e30 in general that have information on modifying the motor, which are somewhat limited. supercharging comes to mind
  4. actually the last sachs kit i bought included a pilot bearing
  5. your starter is not going to cause your flywheel to go out of balance unless the pinion gear is now acting like a mill lol resurfacing the flywheel is good preventative maintenance and something i always do at least. if your starter damages the ring gear on the flywheel, any good machine shop can remove it and turn it around. beyond that ring gears are NLA. if you look at the pressure plate and its not damaged you can reuse it, but for $100 i'd replace it if it were my car
  6. check out what schmidt said today.
  7. the retaining spring only fits one way. the pointy ends go thru the holes. the clip sits on the top of the lever holding it against the plastic pivot. the throwout bearing has two flat surfaces 180* apart the reside inside the lever when positioned correctly preventing the bearing from rotating.
  8. actually she's standing she's about as tall as blunt
  9. your engine bay is the motivator for benetton's car
  10. i heard (not verified) parts are increasingly hard to get i search well known parts websites to see if yo could get common items yo might need, or parts you''re thinking of
  11. ok youz guyz where? got a pic or pix?
  12. go to daniel stern lighting where there is a lot of info about upgrading the bulbs you use in your headlights. really useful info, and there is also a step-by-step procedure for aiming your headlights correctly. this is a great website. BTW - no affiliation, just a very satisfied customer. i wound up buying Philips +80 bulbs and there is a world of difference. no HID look, just better light. you need a relay with these.
  13. email me i have one and i also have the bracket for mounting the trigger and the trigger bonneys @ comcast dot net
  14. my better half the mechanic-on-demand
  15. follow-up question it looks from the design of the trim that the top goes on first and then the bottom?
  16. i love your car and you're a darn good photographer with a keen eye on composition
  17. please tell me how much effort was involved. do it by hand? does it snap on as the bottom part goes in place? thanks mine is a bastard to put on and i'm wondering if, because the car was painted twice (long story), if there is too much paint build up for the trim to install properly.
  18. that is not normal turn signals and windshield wipers should be off with the key, and your radio (after market?) usually has a switched and constant power supply, but i don't know what the power drain would be i have a pioneer deck with the 2 power leads and a clock (tii) and my car can sit for 4 months and still start wothout any problem have you checked the battery?
  19. my tii and steve petersen's s14 bomb on the right, one of the nicest 2002's i've ever seen. we're taking a pic just before heading south to the V@V believe it or not both of these cars are colorado steve's is glasurit and mine is dupont per spec for each paint
