Most unique year / model 02 ?

Not to start any arguments, but what would be the most unique year and model for an 02.

Maybe a 74 Tii ?? . Only built for 1 year right with the injection and the square tail lights.

Although, by the mid 70's BMW was pumping out a few cars I would imagine.

Maybe the earlier model Ti's are the rarest ?

74 tiis are "better" than 73s but they made more of them. There are more of them left because of those two reasons. Roudy tiis are more desirable, and more valuable. In Europe, they had a tii in 75 too.

But Turbos??? Lux models, Dianas and Alpina 2002s are truly rare.

I drove the LAST tii ever built. That is a unique car. The blue touring is still in CA I think.....

2002 convertibles. i think there were only about 200 made. and 1600 convertibles. Just over 1600 made. about the same for Turbo.

Markmac is currently restoring the real Alpina 2002 racecar, which is the rarest, best, most valuable 2002. /end

Y'all are forgetting some even rarer 2002 and 2002 based cars:

YES - there was a completely BATTERY powered 2002 built. ONE....only ONE. Don't believe me? I have photos.

Glas / Baur prototype 2002 based coupes (and these aren't the "1600GT" cars) - instead, there were TWO produced - each one different from the other. Slightly angled roof lines - evocative of Lancia Fulvia / fiat 124 coupes.

I bet I can find more....you just wait! Photos tomorrow for the non-believers!

From the Macartney 2002 book-

Retired BMW racer Hubert Hahne became a BMW dealer in Dusseldorf.

He had bought his wife the actress Dianna Korner a specially equipped 2002 as a wedding present. The car attracted considerable attention. So Hahne was persuaded to make a luxury edition of the 2002Tii, with BMW's permission.

These 12 cars 1 690 201 to 1 690 212 were all different colors and had different interiors, non of the colors were standard 2002 colors. The conversion work was done by Baur.

Diana specs. Electric sunroof- Leather upholstery, Recaro front seats.

Black vinyl headliner. -Velor carpet and boot lining- Leather binding for the carpets.-Black vinyl lining for the boot lid.- leather gaiters for the gear lever and handbrake.- chromed handbrake lever- aluminum tread plates on the door sills- Front and rear overriders- Becker stereo radio- laminated windscreen- heated rear window- ammeter and clock- special silver grille- twin headlamps - chromed covers for the bumper bolts- special exhaust-

Hahne introduced the Diana in the spring of 1971, at a price of 22,500 DM; almost twice what a standard Ti cost. the first 5 sold quickly- the last sold at the end of 1971.

My first tii was vin 276046, and I still have the paper work from I believe Max Hoffman?

Sold it for $3,500 10+ years ago and I still see it parked a few miles from my house

I've seen them all, and these are definitely the most unique of the regular production 02s (excluding the cabrio's and targa's). These early cars are unique in a many details from large to minute.

excluding the above Diana, according to the Macartney book, the LHD Full Cab is the "rarest" with a run of 200. My RHD Targa is next in line with a run of 354. (Mind you, this isn't counting 1600 Cabs, I don't know the numbers for those)
