Always a fun game… replacing my nose panel, and it had me looking closer at this sticky goo substance. Comes from the back of this (thing) with a black, red and green wire with a connector. Pics attached!

That's a solid state voltage regulator that has overheated the black stuff is either a epoxy or silicone that's melted, you might be better off not touching the goo.
