My 2002 wall art arrived!

A couple of months ago I saw an ad for wall art of almost any car’s silhouette and bought one of the Vantage. I never expected the quality and look to be so nice.  They can make them to order and they did not have the 2002, so I commissioned it. Took about a month to arrive and I must say I am really pleased.    You know these guys are serious car nuts when you see the “kink” done right!!  I’m not related to these guys, just a satisfied customer. I thought I would share if case someone else likes these.  B59CD414-D5E4-4933-A9F1-78DD39A453CF.thumb.jpeg.a1bffd4e9c9135b8ef00a0ae2977b4ad.jpeg

Yes, seems to be, and then powder coated.  They also put spacers for the shadow effect so they sit about 1/4” off the wall.

Very cool...is it welded wire or cut-out sheet metal?  Hard to tell from the pictur.

Wonder if they can do a Fiat Topolino and a Renault 4CV...

Good morning. I think they can do any car.  I sent them a picture of my 02 and they took it from there.  They are laser cut out of sheet metal and then powder coated.  Their website is Petrol Vibes  they are in Lithuania. The Vantage got shipped real quick, I received it in California in 3 days.  The 02 took longer (about 1 month) and they sent a design for approval before production.  I don’t see the 2002 on their website but ask them about it.  Also if you join their mail list they will send you a discount code.  If you have other cars made post them so we can see how they turned out.

It looks to be made with similar techniques as one I have.  Mine was a gift from my wife about 10-15 years ago.  I believe the artist was in New Orleans.  She is gone now, but this was the best gift she gave me in our 27 years.  At least the best material gift.

Looks like I am going to have to get a "big bumper/diving board" version, like my '76.

Apologies to Sir Mix-a-Lot 😄

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
