32/36 Water Chokes

2002#3

They are the same, just different hose connections.  The one with both hoses facing the same way seems to be the most popular on the 02s.  I really prefer the electric chokes because those extra hoses are unnecessary obstructions and potential leak sources.

+1 for 'it should fit'-

also

+1 for electric,

as water temperature exiting the head's always lagging

combustion chamber temperature, so the choke stays on

too long.  Not a big deal if you drive 3 blocks and then get on

the highway, but crappy for driving in town.

UNLESS you do lots of errand- running, where the electric resets,

but the water doesn't.

Vs. the 'timer with ambient temperature compensation' effect that the

electric choke has, which at least can be adjusted to  pull the initial choke at

about the right time.

But you didn't ask about that...

One vote for a manual choke.  You're much smarter than a carburetor...

Larry started this thread after a post or two in the "what did you do to your 2002 today!" thread, where he'd said he'd prefer to keep it original/water choked.  Swapping from a DGAV, or DGEV to a DGV (DGMV?) is tricky, but they now sell kits that probably make it easy.  I have never used this, but here's the one I posted in the "what did you do to your 2002 today!" thread.  I'll add it again, for future site-searchers.
