this post is the closest i've seen to cad/scan of a 2002

i've never contacted the person doing the swap ... but looks like there are some point clouds

i could also imagine doing photogrammetry on some of the key components ... but this gets tricky depending on the details you want

300,000 polygons...good model detail.  Looks like they favor Autodesk platforms, Max/Maya, but they do offer STL files.

This looks perfect! The amount of detail seems almost as if it were meant for a racing simulator. I'm curious if it's the same one featured by Petrolicious a couple of years ago.

I wondered where I saw that animation.  Awesome! Reminds me that most car commercials these days use 3D models instead of physical cars.  They are so good at it, it's near impossible to tell.

Here is a SW model of a 2002 body I did for a racecar class back in the early 2000's at Santa Clara University. It has a roll cage inside of it.

I've been looking for ages for such files - no luck, however...

But i'm sure they base their modelling on photo ref so it wouldn't be totally accurate i would have thought?

 

I do have my 02 Baur 3d modelled for a personal 3d print project i'm doing, but again it wouldn't be engineering correct.

Yes, I posted that earlier in the thread, and yes...likely you are correct that they probably used photos.  The trunk (boot) looks incorrect.

Been a 3D modeler since back in the day.  Too many tools to remember (ADAM/Anvil, Autotrol, Computervision, Intergraph, I-Deas, CATIA, Pro-E, yadda yadda - though I only use Strata nowadays).

 

I think I might even have a model or two in some older (ancient) file formats... on even older media.

It does look pretty good but so many mistakes or parts missing.    Wrong wheels for that era, belt molding missing on sides, frt turn signal housing chrome missing, chrome on side impact molding missing, looks like on the right rear, the impact molding runs right into the bumper.   I would have to guess if you can do so much, why not get it right?

Yeah, boy, howdy.  I can do serviceable drawings in 20 minutes, and then spend the

next three days detailing them.  And then spend a day or 2 chasing the errors that

the details drew into the solids...
