3 piece dash new in box

So is this one that’s designed to hold the chrome trim?

Yes this is for the early 1600-2002 cars where the long and short chrome pieces attached to the lower part of the dash. Notice how short and incomplete the lower part looks? The time BMW was selling the 3 piece dash again several years ago now, they were selling the chrome pieces also. I know the dash went NLA again but I don’t know about those chrome pieces.

Although the photos don’t show the lower front edge of the lower part, I agree with resra that it appears to be of the chrome-trimmed style. When combined with the ridges on the parcel shelf, it would appear to be a replacement dash — optimally — for a 1970-ish through April 1971 Euro-spec car. (For the life of me, I cannot recall if my very early 1970, manufactured September 8, 1969, had parcel shelf ridges or not... ?)

 

But if the presence of the ridges on the parcel shelf is ignored, it would be “almost correct” on any Euro-spec car before April 1971 and any U.S.-spec car before October-ish 1967.

This is a hard-to-find package and probably worth the ask for someone restoring a pre model '71 euro spec car.  But keep in mind that the glove box, ash tray and center console are all different compared from US cars of the same vintage.  As are all the under-dash cardboard parts.  Also, the lower dash chrome pieces are made up of four chrome-plated plastic pieces and two (glove box, ash try) chrome plated metal pieces.  There might be more differences but those are ones that come to mind.

 

Where this would be very desirable is for someone restoring an authentic 2002ti.  Those left the factory with this dash and are bringing prices, restored, that would justify the investment for this dash.  Pre-68 1600s had this also but values aren't quite there yet.

Absolutely! But even the production era of the 2002ti (October-ish 1968 to April 1971) straddles the famous “Parcel Shelf Ridge Event”, when ridges suddenly arose from the parcel shelf. I cannot believe a knowing forum member (Mike S., are you seeing this?) hasn’t come along and explained when the ridges arose! ?

I wish I still had because I need a dash for my 73 tii! If anyone out there has a dash or stock interior I could use them.
