What's this part? Inside door.

I took off my door panels to vacuum, replace my broken door stop and lube all the mechanisms.

In the bottom of both doors I found this coil spring.

I assume it's for the window winder?

Both windows roll up and down easily and smoothly.

Anyway, can someone help me out?.

Also, not sure if the door latch rods should have nylon inserts to keep them from rattling, but not of mine did.

I cut some short pieces of vacuum hose and slipped it over each end to quiet them down.

Maybe a universal door latch rod clip is avail at NAPA, etc?

Thanks and Happy Labor Day weekend.

Great view except for the power lines. Now I'm thinking of a certain Billy Joel song (sail on, sail on...)

Looks like a winter project, funny they roll up and down just fine with out it.

What the best source for diagrams realoem?

http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/114/ images might be a bit larger, but realoem also has some photos of the actual parts - click on the camera icon on the right side of the parts list.

That spring has gotta be from a previous mechanism.  The window would hardly move if that spring had fallen out.  And BTW, the little anti-rattle grommets for the door latch rod are still available from the usual sources (Blunt, dealer etc).  Pretty cheap, too.
