Exhaust upgrade!!

It should fit to the original header section just fine. The Ansa is just a flared end with the three bolt coupler. Needs the exhaust donut as well (I also put exhaust putty there just to help seal).

 

 

I think the center section is the same from one to the other but the rear can will make it louder or quieter.

I've got the "stock" center and the sport rear and its loud. Nice racey sound for a loud one, but if you want a "classic" look/sound I'd say try the stock rear.

If your are not adherent to being a do-it-yourself person, sometimes, a visit to a very good muffler/exhaust shop could render you an excellent result for a lot less money than purchasing some systems.

There are a bunch of forum threads regarding replacement exhausts, most discussing the various options and their accompanying exhaust note and noise levels.  If you know your taste in exhaust note and noise level is identical to the person who recommended the Ansa, great, get that one.   But if you've never met the person recommending the Ansa, I'd recommend you read a few of the exhaust threads, and get a broader perspective.

 

I ran an Ansa center and rear muffler on my '70 back in...the early '70's.  It was fun but it was also very loud.  My driving was mostly around town at that time -- and I was very young.  If I had to use the car on long trips, however -- I managed to total that beautiful car quite quickly -- the Ansa would have been an unpopular choice, even with the very young version of me!

 

I actually blame the accident on the Ansa: that loud sporty note made me blast Radar Love and forced me to drive well beyond my capability....  ?

There is really no such thing as 'an exhaust upgrade' for these cars, because the stock system has always been best for longevity, efficiency and sound.  Free flow does not make you go faster, longer. It just makes a beautiful driving experience into a session on the race track.

All '02's were daily drivers at one time!  Certainly, my '67, my '70, and my '76 were my daily drivers from 1973 through 1983.
