Shame, those H&B's look so great. I would still consider options to make them fit.

Bolt on spacer, different brake setup, custom hubs,...

I would also be trying to make the H&B’s work.
Porsche had no trouble with 1 inch plus wheel spacers, 930 turbos came with them from the factory.

A nice hub centric spacer would work fine in my opinion, you are going to end up with the barrels in the same place and the same loads on the wheel bearings.

Image makes nice wheels, though. A buddy of mine had a set on his E30.

With the seats back we can choose a carpet color. I like the dark brown. What do you think?

Squareweave carpet is usually for ‘50s and early ‘60s cars such as Mercedes and Porsche 356. Brown usually goes with brown seats and door panels. There’s in fact a mid ‘60s 1600-2 and NK interior color that’s close to chocolate brown. In say ‘69 and later BMW came out with a Gold Brown interior that you’re used to in many roundie 2002s, Coupes and Bavarias. That’s a very similar color to what you have for tour seats. The carpet that usually goes with that is a wool loop as World Upholstery has as Hazel on this page.

If I were to choose a Squareweave, I would choose Tan as on this page.

Hope this helps,

Tom

We got some of the rest of the interior from the upholsterer today. However, we sent the seats back with him to tighten up some of the wrinkles. Here's how the door panels and center console look:

I would love to see this baby once it is together. Good thing there is social distancing..... If I got too close,  I would drool on it...

What color is the carpet sample that your thumb is over? I wonder what that would look like with a larger swatch.

Cheers! and be safe out there.

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

Quick update- Neither Jim nor I were totally pleased with the work done by the upholsterer so we had him take everything back and re-work it all. Everything looks much better now.

The car is off at the carpet guy as I type. Not sure when he will be done but I know it won't be another 2 years!!

Wheels are coming from England. Not sure when they will arrive. Then a bit of tuning and she should be ready for the road.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
