Adjustable idler arm ?

Ok, NK gurus... we pulled the engine from the 2000CS today and we are scratching our heads about this adjustable idler arm. Is this a typical NK piece?  It appears to have a fill port on top as well an adjusting screw and lock nut as one finds on a steering box. 

 

 

Anyone seen even this Do I fill it with grease?

Hi Ed. Yes you fill it with grease and it is in fact adjustable. I thought the 2002's were the same? I guess not if your asking the question.

02's got a cheaper version with bushes and no adjustment.

I have the same one on my 67 1800. I’m planning on rebuilding it and going to try and find oiled bronze bushings or find some needle bearings for it.. there is also a seal I will be replacing at the bottom.

My 68 2000 doesn't have this..I'll have to peek under the hood of my '67 when I'm under there next month and check.

The thing with these adjustable idler arms is that eventually you run out of further ability to adjust. A kind person on the form sold me one in good shape to replace mine, which was no longer usable

My 2000CS owners manual says SAE 90 gearbox oil - same as steering box.

This type of idler arm assembly was used on the NK from '62-'67. I believe from from '68 on, all the NK cars all used the 2002 front subframe which required changing from this style idler arm to the 2002 style.

It also required the use if different engine mounting brackets on the engine to move the engine forward into the correct position over the subframe (the 2002 engine sits about 3" or so rearward over the subframe).
