Lost my storage spot!

BayArea1602

Recommended Posts

Like any good restoration story, it started with much fanfare and happiness.

A few years later, I have a rusted out 1602 with a seized engine and very little time to get rid of it due to the person who I was renting a spot from at my building is moving out, March 31st.

I don't want it to go to a crusher and there are some good parts (not the body) that could be of use to someone else restoring a 1602.

Now if i could only find the title. Yea, it's one of those worst case scenarios

All jokes aside, the first person who agrees to take it will get the whole car and I will work to get the title. Think of it as a free parts car for the cost of towing (flatbed) and storage (while I get the title)

Pictures to follow. I'm located in San Francisco and want it to go to someone who will see what's left it of it put to good use.

I can probably get you an Antique title from NH -  done it before...

If NH is like Maine, to get a 'show title' the state police must verify the vin on the car, at their convenience.

No, not the crusher!

No time to pull the good bits off yourself?

I have time to pull parts but, I still need to get the car out of their parking spot before the new tenants move in on April 1st.

Thanks to travelling for business for 5 weeks I was a bit out of the loop and now I'm utterly behind the 8 ball.

If you absolutely exhaust all other options, and you can trailer it somewhere, I could stick it in my side yard for a little while (safe behind a fence, but not from the elements) until you sell it on or find another solution. I'm in Sunnyvale. My wife would not be thrilled but she does love 02s and would tolerate it for a short while if it saved the car from the crusher. PM me if you need.

I have space to store your car in the East Bay if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer but, work has me travelling a lot now.

With my new schedule, I can't even imagine I'd ever have the time to get it running again.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
