Year:: 1972

Make:: BMW

Model:: 2002 Tii

Price:: 13000.00

Location: : Palm Springs, CA

I saw this on Craigslist and thought I would pass it along,  A 1972 BMW 2002 Tii with Inka paint and Borrani wheels.  Nice paint, some rust on the trunk lid as reported by the owner, no snorkel.  Some features look like it could be a euro import, no side markers, euro turn signals and euro rear license plate holder.  Motivated seller with baby on the way.

Too darned nice for $13K! I agree with Mark: it could be a Euro model: even seats appear to be vinyl and cloth, European style. If Euro, and not California, be particularly careful inspecting for rust (although California blue plate is in place on the car's rear). These CL dates seem to be consistently inconsistent! Ad says '72 in title but '73 in basic data. Plastic intake runners are '72 but front bumper is '73-style (if U.S. model), but might be '72-style as well (if Euro).

Request a BMW Archives report, and go look at this car!

Regards,

Steve

I believe this is fake, two weeks ago there was a similar post in the Los Angeles craigslist area with the same description almost.

Also those pictures do not look like its in palms springs  ;):lol:

You may be right... I am yet to hear back on the short list of questions... including the simplest, just asking for the VIN :)

So, obviously, the same photos on the Palm Springs listing were utilized in the 2010 Bring a Trailer listing. And, I believe, you're saying the same photos appeared in an L.A. listing two weeks ago? At very best, you have a lazy seller -- too lazy to take new photos -- with multiple residences! At worst? Scam.

Good sleuthing!

Steve

Very squirrely, if notihing else, by listing a car as coming from Palm Springs and posting pics taken somewhere else at a much earlier date. In this day and age being too lazy to take a new picture isn't even a valid excuse what with cell phones and all.
