I have dealt with ie since the early 2000'. When i was living in socal, west covina. I remember when i broke down on foothill blvd. with a blown water pump and they waited for me after hours to pick it up. Now im in houston and im still dealing with them with good experience. What ever qualms you have with them should be spoken with them directly, no need for a web bash. Im pretty sure they will resolve whatever it maybe.

The difference between an faq member and troll.

An faq member inquires about a company following a bad experience, realizes that his experience is an exception since most people share a positive experience with said vendor, reconsiders his position and tries again to resolve the issue with the vendor directly.

A troll has a negative experience with a vendor pretending to get feedback while their mind has already been made.  They reiterate their bad experience, get louder with colorful language and starts blasting those members for daring to have a good experience, sharing it and defending the vendor.

I have been an Ireland customer for maybe 10 years.  I've been to their shop several times.  Last weekend, they opened up their doors and hosted a BBQ for 250 people.  When one of their rear sway bar links on my E30 developed a little play after 3 years or HARD driving, they just gave me a replacement, free.  I didn't even ask.

They are not just a parts distributor.  They MAKE stuff.  A lot of it is excellent stuff.  If you run into a glitch, they make it right.  They support the 2002 and their owners wholeheartedly.  Jeff still races his 2002.  He tests his parts HIMSELF on his car on the street and on the track.

If you are not satisfied with Ireland, cancel your order and go elsewhere.  As you said, unlike some other vendors, they did not charge your credit card before shipping your parts.

I've done business it seems like an eternity with IE, in fact if I looked around I could find one of his original catalogs in my stuff. So I've been ordering parts from Jeff for a long time and never had problems. I guess what I don't understand here is what's the purpose here? One person's point of view. Seems this is becoming the thing to do publicly, hammer on someone. I wish you folks would take your beefs off the forum and settle them. Just my opinion though.

I've survived damn near everything.

If your looking for engineered performance parts you unfortunately will have to deal with IE, or some other outfit.  I recall they recently were going through a complete facilities move.  I ordered a mech advanced dizzy from them, and it took about two weeks (I live in the SF bay area).

If you need everyday consumable stuff like spark plugs, hoses, belts, thermostats - basically OEM stock items try any of these guys:

- I usually use these guys - orders take 2-3 days to arrive

http://www.rmeuropean.com - about the same shipping time, but fractionally more expensive then the above seller

Don't use autohausaz too much anymore because it seems like they take their sweet time to process orders that use the free shipping option.

There is also http://mesaperformance.com - talk to Jim there.  They are located in Costa Mesa, CA.

Is this a competent performance parts company???? I order parts, ask if they're in stock and if not - skip it and ship.......but the order keeps getting delayed and Ireland Engineering keeps saying we're waiting for this item and sending it out??? crazy!!!

I read some mixed post about problems with this company and thought a simple order wouldn't be an issue?

Jeff Ireland might be an engineer but he seems to be an off hands incompetent owner ............?

Help!!!  Is there any competent companies out there for parts???

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
