Classic Car, Classic Rock - What's Your DRIVER Song?

vinntagejoe

Recommended Posts

To many of us, driving these classic cars (me in my modified 75 02) brings back memories of our favorite song of all time (KMET / KLOS / 100.3 The Sound / KRTH / Huggy Boy / etc). The one song (or three), without a doubt you can listen to over and over and over agian (think "repeat song" on your ipod).

I'm going to make a big assumption that all have one (or three) , so what is the ONE you listen to that makes your drive that much better and lets all the bullshit fall to the side of the open road??? Mine, I've got three, so list them and crank it up:

Dylan's - Like A Rolling Stone

America's - Ventura Highway

Rod Stewart's - Maggie may

LOADS of memories. I´m 38 now, and I went on my first real date, dinner and movie, in my ´02. The girl is gone, but the taiga is still around.

I narrowed it down to these:

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - F#&€ing up

Pearl Jam - Animal

And, well.. You can´t ask for ONE and list three yourself =)

(But, after the last time I had the interior out (two years ago) I didn´t install the stereo again..)

Boz Scaggs' Loan Me a Dime (with Duane Allman on guitar). 12 minutes and 33 seconds of pure bliss. Starts out as a slow blues burner, and by the end, has exploded into a frantic blaze. You will not be driving the speed limit as this one winds down...

My first 02 was a 76 which I was lucky enough to drive in 77 and 78 while in high school.  Great date car.  The 2 songs I loved to drive to back then were Queen's We are the Champions and Van Halen's Running with the Devil.

Sorry had to post twice on this one.  Way to many great memories.

I have too many songs that I love to listen to.  Sometimes I just keep the tii in 4th gear...

George Thorogood  - No Particular Place to Go  (or originally Chuck Berry)

Eagles  - Take it Easy  (I hear Winslow, AZ has a cult following with that flatbed Ford)

Molly Hatchet -  Flirtin' With Disaster

Golden Earring - Twilight Zone

Glen Frey - Smuggler's Blues

Glen Frey - The Heat Is On

More modern:

Foo Fighters - The Pretender

I picked up a refurbished Alpine 7307 with a dial and look forward to exercising numerous Grateful Dead tapes once it's installed.

If my speakers could handle it at the desired volume, the Massive Attack vs Mad Professor record No Protection would be another excellent option.

Early New Order, XTC, Curtis Mayfield, Yo La Tengo, Neil Young, Descendents' Milo Goes to College, I could go on and on. And I have 8 Maxells full of 70s stuff: AM gold, soul, yacht rock, etc. I especially enjoy these on road trips as it reminds me of when I was a kid on my first car trips.

whew, the Mighty Met ..... bloody hell, there's some massive ripples through the door of the collective consciousness, complete with attendant weird scenes coaxed along by Dr Demento every Sunday night inside the gold mine wrapped around the college wine bottle.
