Favorite car community? (after this one of course)

As car folks we often have more than one cool car. I've seen folks post pictures of their other cars. I'd like to hear about other car scenes you enjoy and why.

FAQ is my favorite online forum. My 02 is my favorite car. But the ATL 02 scene is almost nonexistent and Vintage is the only 02 event close to me.

I really enjoy the VW scene. Plenty of events and man is it easy to get parts.

I tagged along recently on a Porsche ride. Not the friendliest crowd I've ever been around. And it didn't seem like they did their own work.

I've owned a bunch of 1980s and 1990s Volvos and did a fair amount of my own work. My favorite online destinations were matthewsvolvosite.com and brickboard.com. Those sites differed from the FAQ in that the focus was pretty much on keeping out-of-warranty daily-driver Volvos on the road without spending megabucks at dealerships. Lots of good information on those sites for 240s, 740/760/940/960 and 850 models through the 850 facelift S70 and V70.

I bet it really depends on geographic area too. The VW scene in GA seems great.

Our Caffeine and Octane gathering once a month is great also, wide variety of cars.

I see a lot of folks fixing up E30s in Atlanta as well.

One of my friends is in the classic MINI scene here too. He says it's a good crowd but that he would really like to see some young blood come along. Says its all geezers like him.

If you`re into hot rods and big engines this site is a dream come true. And even if you`re not, there are many great designers and fabricators present.

Enough so that some days I feel I should hang up my welder and return to pounding two stones together.....

P.S. - I still can`t find an active Chevette forum.

No Chevette forum? I once even saw an AMC Gremlin group online.

I like looking at ratrods from time to time, that's a cool site. And that does seem to be where you find a lot of good metal fabricators.

Nope. Closest I could find was a dirt track racer forum(chevettes are used for circle track from time to time). And then they weren`t even very active. If you like the ratrods and the fabrication, check this thread out:

Skim through the pictures, the guy makes everything by hand. I`ll just go back to my watercolor now.

Man, I always forget about the offroad community even though I just took my Westy mud riding recently and loved it.

I've noticed that my eye has been drawn more and more toward the offroad vehicles but I'm completely unfamiliar with those various groups.

I'm pretty active in www.dieselplace.com which is a bunch of Chevy diesels. No I'm not one of those Dirtymax kids :P I rock an old 6.2 diesel with a turbo and some other cool shit.

What I love about this group of people is they're extremely resourceful and the majority of us do some crazy stuff to our engines and trucks. Not much of the buy it done crew there, it's all build to suit.

Yes, I need to clean up my engine bay badly.... I got wires everywhere :/

I made a heap of VW friends from when i had my MK1 Golf

IMG_2096.jpg

some of my best mates are ones i know because of MX5's, but you also get the cranky old guys with really nasty taste in modifications and parts.

The friendliest and most welcoming forum i've come across would have to be efcivicsedan.myfreeforum.org

crazy specific forum but the friendliest bunch of guys out there. my favourite forum based on content quality and ease/pleasantness of use is VWVortex.com
