No Chevette forum? I once even saw an AMC Gremlin group online.

Yeah, that's odd. There's even a semi-active forum for Datsun 320 trucks like mine, and there's only a handful of them in the country. There are some very skilled fabricators there.

I have to admit that I was once active in the Dodge K car forum. Tough times, indeed. But, they provided the best info for keeping my $300 roof-less shadow beater running.

Just bought a hand crank bolt for my truck from the MG Experience forum the other day. After making only one post, I had a couple guys making suggestions, and one quickly sent me one for $12. Then I got a PM from a guy local to me that noticed my address, and suggested that I should come to his local sports car touring club events. Not too many around these parts, so it's hard to find members. I think I'm going to dinner with them friday night.

There's also the miata people. Pretty amazing group at times, but it's just too frickin' huge for my taste these days. It used to be that I was the only one in town with a modified miata, and now I pass a couple a day. Occasionally I sneak onto the forum to grab some maintenance tips, and then get out. They're still great cars, and mine can outhandle my 02, but I've moved on....

I used to be an A-body Mopar fan, having owned a '74 Dart, and 67', 68', 69' Barracudas. Mostly slant 6 engines. Cheap, plentiful engines/parts in a 2nd-Gen Barracuda gave me a cool looking, light muscle-car, that was easy to work on, when i didn'thave a lot of money back then. You could tinker and get some decent power, good gas mileage, and the ultimate reliability for a 60s-70s Detroit car. (Kinda sounds like the '02 mentality?)

These two sites were great for me at the time... Never really reached out to the 'slant 6' guys, but they seem like a tight-knit group...

I've been working on a concours restoration on my '64.5 Mustang going on 5 years now. It's been taking so long I felt I needed something fun to drive, picked up a '74 Sahara a year and a half ago - best "investment" in fun I've made. Biggest difference between the 2 groups, the Mustang crowd likes to show their cars and the '02 crowd likes to drive!

I also have owned. and currently own several old land cruisers since the early 1980s. I love ih8mud.com ! The TLC community is pretty remarkable. This one is too! Also the austin healey groups are very helpful and knowledgeable, but not nearly as much information as this 02 crowd.

There are so many cars on this thread that I'd love to get to one day. And this will be food for thought as for which ones I try. That's good to hear about the activity and friendliness of the other groups.

You really feed off the energy of others so I try to factor that in when I consider future acquisitions.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
