Angled air horns for 40mm Weber DCOE

Hello Guys,

I am searching for anyone with experience in angled air horns for dual Weber DCOE.

Due to lack of space on the 2002, it could be an idea with air horns angled upwards. This way I could have both long air horns and a decent airfilter.

Any suggestions

A ghetto solution to this would be....there are some PVC elbows at your local hardware store that have 45 degree and 90 degree angles....and in 2" diameter (close fit to the end of the DCOE's)

With some work, you could make these work I think. $1 each is a lot cheaper than $75 or so that it could probably cost for "real"

I have actually made myself a "ghetto" version with flexible aluminium tubes through a polycarbonate plate and into foam filters.

Low RPM torque is really impressive. Sound is awesome. But the looks.........

There must be someone outthere who has made a solution that looks more "works".

I actually did something like this for a non-2002 application (dune buggy) where I visited my friendly Autozone and got a tour of their radiator hose section. I found one with the right angle and diameter and cut the section out with a bandsaw. It actually looks pretty professional. You might find some intercooler colored hoses to do the job. The intercooler clamps are pretty good looking. You might be able to put straight horns on the elbows and then into the air cleaner.

Another option is to make it out of mandrel bent exhaust tubing. I dont think it would be to awfully hard to do...

I just had my lil hands on such a set up in a car....iirc they can be had from an Alfa Alfetta?..i cant recall..but they looked good.....very nice.

get in touch w/ an alfa supplier....or call redline...or TEP or?....

ahhhhh...call IAP alfa parts......International Auto....

Years ago in a land far away I took some velocity stacks and cut them off. Then I fitted some black PVC 45 degree bend pipe over the stub and hose clamped them in place. To get some kind of a "horn" effect I filed the PVC elbow inside exit edge to round the end where I slipped a K&N filter over it. Again a hose clamp. On cylinders 1&2 i just used the normal velocity stack.

It was OK. Looked well fair for a cluge. But I felt no improvement in the low end torque.

The Alpha curved stacks are a riot. Wire domes! No filtration except #4 gravel and larger. Plus there does not appear to be any "Horn" just a flat end flange which is just like a bare carb.

In the end I got rid of the stacks and used solid stubby stacks which provide excellent air entry characteristics into the carb in fact +5.8% flow over bare carb.

Have fun working on this I sure did.
