This is my new Ti that i got for FREE!!!

Than you Glen!

She is in a bad state but i just cant let this one die!

She is goin back to Colorado orange(the original colour), and is going to stay bone stock.

Does anybody know what wheels those are? From what BMW are the?

All the parts are there, and theres a nice sport steering wheels aswell, although it need restoration.

Also, is that a Ti head? doesnt make sense.

The vin is: 1691398 (for you vince :D)

that zylinder head was cast in 1976 - after ti production

and unfortunatly - yer ti WAS a ti - now nothing remains

except a shell, and a memory

give it some love - best of luck

once apon a time it was like this:

The wheels look like 14'' e30 steelies to me, could also be VW steelies.

Wow john, your car is beautiful!

Yes, i do have ALOT of work to do on this car, but with only 16 odd thou of them made, i just couldnt let is die... And all the parts are acually there, just not fitted. Its the chassis im concerned about

The weels have 5.5x14 bmw e35 staped into them, if that narrows it down. It does look like the e30 steelies, bit that funny chrome cap/lip is what made me wonder...

About the head, i saw the production date, but whats up with the "T"? And btw, 76 is past the 121 head production aswell, which throws that whole argument out the window...

And thats not me by the car, its my friend who helped me get the car home.

If all else fails, i still got ti struts, booster, mc, trailing arms, wheels(i got the original 5" steelies with), intake, exhaust and fuel pump for free!

But im gona try and save her first.

Wow, free! I suspect that free is more like $10,000 min in parts and 100's of hours of your labor just to get it drivable. Good luck, and like that guy on TV says, "Restore em' Don't crush em". Of course if they crush em it makes mine worth more!!!!

Would you please post a picture of the combustion chamber from that head and measure the exhaust manifold studs? I have only seen one other head marked just as a 121T and the chamber was different than a regular 121Ti head. Thanks

The Ti was basically identical to the Tii except for the engine (brakes, suspension, etc. are the same), so you can source Tii parts as well as Ti parts to help put the car back together. Looks like a decent find though, good luck!

The head is still on the block, but i will post pictures and measurement of valves and such when i pull it off, it would be nice to have the exact specs of the 121, 121t and 121ti heads together somewhere. I read in an old post that the 3 heads are identical but its hard to tell if the guy who posted it has seen all three together, and i have both 121 and 121t heads now, soooo mabe sumone should send me a 121ti head so i can measure it up for all of us... :D

I dont know why they would go through the trouble of making 3 different head no's(and castings for that matter) without changing the head.

What i also cant figure out is on what cars were the 121t suplied? AFAIK all 2002(pre e12) came with the 121, and only the ti had the 121ti. Im suspecting that the 121t could be the designation for 121 heads produced in the e12 era, as all the 121t heads ive seen(only two other from the faq search) were made post '74. Could be coincedence.

If you are a 121 expert please chime in.

The combustion chambers on the 121 & 121ti heads are the same the only difference is the Ti head had the larger 46 mm intake and 38mm exhaust valves fitted. The only 121t head I have actually seen was a factory replacement head for a turbo with a 78 build date. That is why I asked you to have a look at the combustion chambers and exhaust studs.

Same to my 121 head too. It's from my 73 tii. The casting date on the head also says 73, and i'm pretty sure that the car came out from the factory with it. And it has 46/38 valves too. But i don't get it - why if it has the bigger valves and if it's from tii it has only "121" stamped on it? Why not 121TI?

The BMW 2002 tii VIN 2719550 was manufactured on July 3rd, 1973 and delivered the same day to the BMW dealer Zeiss & Schwärzel in Mannheim. The original colour was Golf, paint code 070.
